Welcome Letter

Dear parents and guardians,

Hello! My name is Mrs. Emily and welcome to a new school year at NFL YET College Prep Academy.
I’m looking forward to this school year and working with you and your child. I plan to make this an
interesting and exciting year full of challenges, successes, and productivity.

Description of the course:


Throughout this year, your child will learn about the elements and events that make up the history from
the ancient world to the present. Your kid will learn about the history of the United States and how the
people and occurrences from the past affects and relates to how we live today. For this class we will do a
lot of reading, analyzing, annotations, and critical thinking.

Expectations:

● Be prepared for class ● Send children to class

● Respect yourself, peers, and teacher ● Send children with the supplies needed for
class

● Keep hands to yourself ● Email me in case your kid won’t be coming


to class

● Participate in class discussions ● Ask your kid what they learn in class

● Offer to help your classmates ● Help your kid study at home

● Always attend class ● Encourage them to do better in class and


praise them when they do

Homework policy:
Whenever students receive homework it will always be due Sunday at 11:59 p.m. In case students can’t
turn in their homework on time, I expect to receive an email informing me about it and I will give them
more time to complete it.
If students don’t email me, each day that their homework is late 10% will be subtracted from the final
grade of that assignment.

Grading:
After scores have been
added, final grades will
be assigned as follows

Homework 50% 90-100 A

Quizzes 15% 80-89 B

Final exam 25% 70-79 C

Supplemental 10% 60-69 D

Below 60 F

Disciplinary policy:
➔ Respect yourself, fellow students, and teachers
➔ Respect school property
➔ Follow directions
➔ Follow the school’s dress code
➔ No food, drinks, or gum in the classroom
➔ Be in your assigned seat
➔ Don’t walk around the classroom unless given permission
➔ Keep electronics in your backpack and out of sight

Consequences if students ignore disciplinary policy:


First consequence - Verbal warning
Second consequence - Time out
Third consequence - Teacher send student to the Principal
Fourth consequence - Call parents

questions or concerns call, text, or email me, you don’t have to wait for parent conferences to talk to me,
communication will make this an easy and great school year.
