A Day in the Life

INT. ANTHONY’S BEDROOM – MORNING

Alarm sounds, ANTHONY GERARD, sixteen, long black hair,


unkempt, snaps his eyes open, sits up in bed, facing the
camera as the alarm continues to sound. His head drops and he
runs his hands through his hair, brushing it out of his face,
sighing as he does so. He slams his fist down on the snooze
button, almost breaking the alarm clock and simply sits on his
bed for a few moments in silent contemplation. Suddenly,
Anthony’s intellectual subconscious appears from off frame,
represented as another sixteen year old boy with thick glasses
and dressed in school uniform, worn in a tidy fashion. He
leans over the bed, forcing Anthony to make eye contact with
him.

INTELLECTUAL SUBCONSIOUS
(eagerly)
Come on, get up. We can’t be late for school! Think
of everything we’ll learn today!

With that, Anthony’s intellectual side turns and rushes out of


frame, followed slowly and reluctantly by Anthony.

CUT TO:

EXT. RESDIDENTIAL AREA OUTSIDE ANTHONY’S HOUSE – MORNING

Close up on Anthony’s face as he walks along the footpath as


he stares at the footpath whilst moving away from his house.
He is now dressed in full school uniform, identical to his
intellectual subconscious’ uniform, only Anthony has made less
of an effort to appear tidy. He is walking towards the camera,
which moves with him and his intellectual subconscious can be
seen following just over his left shoulder, irritating Anthony
with his incessant rambling.

INTELLECTUAL SUBCONSCIOUS
Don’t worry, you did the homework that’s due today,
so don’t stress. I wonder what we’ll get for
homework today.

Anthony, doing his best to ignore his intellectual


subconscious, looks up and turns to face off camera. We cut to
Anthony’s point of view and see his NEIGHBOR, female, early
twenties, attractive, who is wearing her pyjamas as she pulls
a bin down her driveway. She is unaware Anthony is staring at
her. We switch back to seeing Anthony’s face just as his
raging sex drive steps into the frame, represented as a
sixteen year old wearing only underwear which all but hide his
erection.

RAGING SEX DRIVE


(grinning)
(whistles) Look at her! She’s a bit of all right. Go
over there and make a move. C’mon, it’d be worth it

Anthony picks up his walking pace and power walks passed the
camera, leaving his intellectual subconscious and raging sex
drive struggling to keep up. We hear a school bell,
transitioning us to the next shot.

CUT TO:

INT. CLASSROOM – DAY

School bell ends, Anthony is seat in a classroom, I the center


of the room, surrounded by other students, all bored, none of
whom are paying attention. The camera slowly begins to zoom in
on Anthony, with his intellectual subconscious and raging sex
drive crouched beside him in each aisle, neither of whom are
paying attention.

TEACHER
(off camera)
Who can tell me who it is that said this famous
quote; “A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse.”?

This peaks Anthony’s intellectual subconscious’ interest. He


leans in to Anthony.

INTELLECTUAL SUBCONSCIOUS
You know this; it’s Richard the third. Put your hand
up!

Anthony considers this for a second, moving his hand as if to


answer the question. Anthony’s withdrawn subconscious then
steps in from off camera, represented as a sixteen year old in
school uniform, not unlike Anthony’s, only his hair is a
darker shade of black with a fringe masking most of his face.
He crouches behind Anthony, resting his head on Anthony’s
shoulder.

WITHDRAWN SUBCONSCIOUS
You know what will happen if you get the answer
wrong, they’ll all laugh at you. Think about that.

Anthony places his hand back down on the table, the camera
having now zoomed in to a close up of Anthony’s face. His
raging sex drive leans into the frame, his face to Anthony’s
ear.

RAGING SEX DRIVE


Dude, do you even realise how hot the chick is two
rows behind you?

Anthony’s raging sex drive leans out of the frame and Anthony
is the only face left on screen. His rubs his face with his
hands, sighing, as another school bell rings.

CUT TO:

INT. SCHOOL CORRIDOR – DAY

From inside Anthony’s locker, we see Anthony’s locker pulled


open as he places his books inside, the school bell continuing
to ring for a second before stopping. For this brief moment,
he appears to be by himself. Anthony’s intellectual
subconscious pops up beside him on his right side.

INTELLECTUAL SUBCONSCIOUS
It would probably be good to spend recess in the
library. That way, you can study and get ahead of
your peers.

Anthony’s withdrawn subconscious walks into frame from


Anthony’s left as Anthony continues arranging his books.

WITHDRAWN SUBCONSCIOUS
The only reason to hang out at the library is so you
can be left alone.

Anthony’s raging sex drive pulls Anthony’s intellectual side


out of frame and takes his place beside Anthony.

RAGING SEX DRIVE


You should spend recess at the basketball courts.
It’s cheerleader practice today!

Anthony’s party hard persona then appears from over his


shoulder, represented as sixteen year old wearing a beer
helmet.
PARTY HARD PERSONA
Where are your friends hanging out? You should
totally be tearing it up with them.
Anthony pulls out a sandwich from his locker and slams his
locker shut.

CUT TO:

INT. SCHOOL LIBRARY – DAY

Anthony is seated at a table with a book held out in front of


him, though he is not reading it, his gaze is actually over
the top of the book, looking off camera. Behind him is a table
with a group of boys seated, their backs to the camera. They
are mucking around and making a lot of noise for a library.
What they are saying is inaudible. Anthony’s raging sex drive
is standing next to Anthony’s chair, and is looking around
frantically.

RAGING SEX DRIVE


There are no hot chicks in here!

Anthony’s withdraw subconscious is standing just behind


Anthony’s chair looking over Anthony’s shoulder at his book.

WITHDRAWN SUBCONSCIOUS
Told ya you would be left alone in here.

Anthony’s party hard persona is seated on the chair next to


Anthony with his head on the table, suddenly sits up.

PARTY HARD PERSONA


(sighing)
This is so boring!

Anthony’s intellectual subconscious runs in from off camera.

INTELLECTUAL SUBCONSCIOUS
I found a book on that will help you with the test
next week.

Without warning, Anthony stands, knocking the chair he was


sitting on over.

ANTHONY
Shut up!

There is a long shot of a solitary Anthony standing


motionless, the eyes of the library all on him as he stands
there, realising he is alone. Close up on Anthony’s face as he
realises the mistake of his outburst. The camera switches to
seeing one of the boys who was mucking around behind Anthony,
as he watches Anthony power walk out of the library in shame.
The camera slowly zooms out, revealing that the group of boys
mucking around was only this one boy sitting there studying.
The boy’s intellectual subconscious leans into frame,
represented in exactly the same attire as Anthony’s own
intellectual subconscious just a different sixteen year old.

(BOY’S) INTELLECTUAL SUBCONSCIOUS


What a nutcase.

BOY
You can say that again.

The boy’s intellectual subconscious leans out of frame once


more as the boy returns to studying. The camera zooms out,
revealing, once again, that the boy is sitting there alone.

FADE OUT.
