“Filipino Journalist 2021”

Being a journalist is difficult. It is one of the most challenging professions
in the world. Some people find it dangerous, but others think it untrustworthy and
deceitful that is why they don't think about pursuing this kind of job. According to
Dobie News, without journalism, our people would be ignorant. The reason for this is,
they are the ones who give current and relevant information and news to the public.
It was able us to be aware of what happened in our nation and especially to the
world. This kind of work has many policies and practices to be professional. Here in
the Philippines, we have plenty of News Broadcasting shows on different networks.
Among them, I mostly watched is 24 Oras in GMA 7.

I have grown up listening to 24 Oras of GMA, and since then, I still salute
all the News Presenters of this show. When it comes to reporting, they are
professional, and they still have following the ethics of News TV Broadcasting in our
KDP code. They're not just entertaining, and primarily, 24 Oras inform us of current
events and situations in our country. Somehow, some of their news, especially in
their segment "Chika Minute" hosted by Iya Villana-Arellano, only talks about
entertainment and showbiz. But even so, they still follow the No less than 30 minutes
devoted for daily news rather than purely entertainment.

The 24 Oras also show integrity when it comes to the information they
disseminated to us. As a News TV Broadcasting station, audiences demand truthfulness
from them, and for me, they never failed for that. Another factor is their being
accurate in collecting news. They have a good choice in hiring journalist and
researcher, and the reason for that is if they have those kinds of the researcher, it
would be sure that the news they get is trusted and reliable.

This News Broadcasting team also showed responsibility, especially their

journalist and reporters. They stand by their work no matter what situation and place
they were appointed. Many reporters from 24 Oras came close to danger due to storms,
war, and other unexpected disasters. But despite that, they continued to deliver news
and provide updates about what was happening at that time. In addition to that, I
can't say everyone, but most of the news presenters in 24 Oras showed their
leadership aspect. The courage and passion for their work build their reputation, and
now they are recognized as great reporters/journalist.

In delivering news, as I said, they show professionalism. The manner of speech

and body posture are pleasant for the viewers. And when it comes to government
relations, they are impartial, the information about the government is not biased,
and we can only see and hear the truth. Especially the interview of Mike Enriquez
with Vice President Leni Robredo. The sets of questions he used do not tend to attack
the Vice President but to get her opinion on the issues she facing involving with our
President Duterte. Before Mike finished, he said that they allotted a short time for
this interview to have more time for the other news. That is means they have good
ethics when it comes to their work.

If we talk about how they deliver news that has Crime and Violence, they put
some videos and pictures, but at the same time, they blurred some of the people if
necessary. And just like their news coverage about Policeman Jonel Nuezca, who killed
a mother, son in Tarlac. They show the whole clip recorded by the family of the
victim as evidence for their news. This kind of way shows being objective, which is
good in news making and writing. They also put a filter on obscenity situations, like
in the case of Mr. Nuezca. You won't hear bad words because they've added effects so
that the viewers unable to heed them. That in case there is a child watching, they
would not understand it. However, it is not ethical for us to hear such words on
national TV.

To sum up, without proper ethics, the reporter can't achieve fairness. It is
necessary so they can handle conflicts of interest and pursue stories with compassion
and empathy.
