Introducing Joju Charging
Joju Charging are experienced installers of electric vehicle charging
infrastructure (EVCI) in the public and commercial sectors. We are
recognised as one of the foremost EVCI installation companies in the
UK and are already working with more than 50 public sector
organisations to deliver their EV charging ambitions. We are suppliers
under the Central Southern Regional, ESPO and Transport for London
EVCI Frameworks.

We can provide a turnkey solution to emergency service providers,

including:

• Feasibility studies
• Obtaining permissions and consents, including negotiating with District
Network Operators (DNOs)
• Full project management, installation and deployment including
bollards/guards, signage, parking bay marking, electric vehicle
charging cables, RFID access cards, back-office connection,
payments collection etc.
• Charge point service and management
• Funding for your charging infrastructure

Joju Charging is part of Joju Solar who offer solar PV and battery
storage solutions. Joju Solar was founded as a response to the
climate crisis. Our remit has always been the decarbonisation of
buildings. Joju Charging extends this to address the transportation
sector as well, with additional benefits of improved local air quality.
We supply 100% renewable energy as standard and can offer third
party finance for your EV charge point scheme.

Technology Agnostic
Joju are not tied to any particular brand of charge point. Instead
we work with multiple manufacturers to offer what we believe are
the best products on the market. Our technical team have surveyed
a wide range of potential products and choose based on quality,
type of charge point (pole-mounted, wall-mounted, lamp post
integrated), and operability. Put simply, we carry out due diligence
so you don’t have to. We are always on the lookout for high quality
game-changing new products to bring into our portfolio.

We offer a wider range of charge points than any single

manufacturer. This allows us to find the optimal charge point
solution for any of your locations. A good driver experience is
critical to the future adoption of EVs, so getting the right charge
points installed is essential. We are committed to using open
networks to provide the smoothest possible driver experience.

‘‘
We used the Central Southern Regional EVCI Framework to install
charging infrastructure at Sussex police stations. Joju are the sole
supplier to that framework. We found them very easy to work
with. They were good at listening to our particular requirements as
emergency service providers, and at discussing our queries. They
followed up with excellent work on the installations. The monthly
dashboard reports they provide are comprehensive and informative.
I would definitely recommend them to other emergency service
providers.”
David Lewis, Estates Project Manager, Sussex Police

the functionality that you require. We ensure that the back-office can
communicate with all models of charge point via the Open Charge Point
Protocol (OCPP), so you are not restricted in the type of charge point you
may wish to deploy across your area. We can, for example, manage lamp
post, fast and rapid chargers made by different manufacturers on one back-
office system. Features of a typical back-office include:

• User authentication and operation with RFID charge card and mobile app
• Cloud-connected and therefore compatible with smart charge services
• Online dashboard for management and configuration
• Ability to set tariffs
• White lists of free/low tariffs for council fleets
• Online access to usage and income data
• 24/7 customer helpline

‘‘ I would recommend Joju because they have demonstrated that they
can handle the specific difficulties of working in a police station
environment, and in all the work we have done with them they have
been reliable and professional.”
Peter Stockwell, Managing Director, Concept Energy Solutions Limited,
prime contractor for Joju’s Metropolitan Police PV installations

Full Turn-key Solutions

We understand that a successful roll-out of EV charge points is more
than just choosing the most appropriate technology – it requires smooth
project management and experienced installation teams on the ground.

As installers of charge points rather than manufacturers, Joju are able

to offer a full turnkey solution. Programmes of work will be managed
by our teams of project managers, and installation will be carried out
using our in-house electrical teams. We liaise with the District Network
Operators (DNOs) for the provision of new connections, and undertake
any civil engineering works necessary. Joju are responsible for the whole
process from procurement through to commissioning, and you will have
a dedicated project manager for your programme of works.

‘‘ I wish to highlight the ethics and values of Joju. They are completely
aligned to the community energy / renewable energy / tackling
climate change movement. To find this together with technical
expertise has been a real joy. They are totally straightforward,
honest and ethical. Their quotes are firm and contain no hidden
extras. They are easy to work with and very supportive because
we are all trying to deliver the same mission.”
Mike Smyth, Chairman, Energy4All (the UK’s largest facilitator
of community-funded renewables)

Funding Options
Joju can also bring third party finance to suitable EVCI installations.
Under this model, the funder would provide the capital for the charge
points and make their return from the electricity sold to EV drivers.
This is a way for emergency service providers to deploy charge
points at volume without having to spend their own limited resources.
It de-risks the scheme from the emergency service provider’s point
of view, but still allows them a share of profits generated.

Joju’s EV team are also able to provide advice to emergency service

providers regarding other sources of funding for EV charging
infrastructure, including DEFRA’s Air Quality Grant Programme, the
Go Ultra Low Cities Scheme, the Clean Air Fund and the On-street
Residential Charging Point Scheme.

Green Electricity as Standard

Joju’s remit has always been about reducing CO2 emissions. Whilst
electric vehicles are excellent for reducing local air pollutants (NOx,
particulates), the CO2 emissions form an electric vehicle are dependent
on where the electricity is sourced from. That’s why we supply green
electricity to our public charge points when installing a new connection
under a funded scheme.
