As a Catholic Educational Institution and a non-partisan institution, Xavier University-

Ateneo de Cagayan will continue to engage in one of the most important democratic spaces our
constitution provides amidst this COVID-19 pandemic. As members of a Jesuit institution and as
mandated in our mission to build a just and humane society through educating and engaging the
youth in meaningful venues for holistic formation, it is our duty to strengthen the position of XU
in the promotion of the truth in practices like elections. With this, The Xavier University–
Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SSIAP), presents this year’s electoral
integration, GAHUM SA KATAWHAN: Magkahiusa para sa Matinud-anong Piniliay 2022
on Septembert 16, 2021, Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 PM.

Gahum sa Katawhan: Magkahiusa para sa Matinud-anong Piniliay 2022 is an initiative

by the student volunteers under the Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SSIAP)
of Xavier University Social Development Cluster designed and organized to inform, form and
transform XU Community and other institutions on the upcoming 2022 National and Local
Elections. This is also a campaign that advocates for safe (COVID-proof), peaceful, and
meaningful elections by providing relevant information that shall equip the voters with valuable
inputs in choosing the right candidates and as “watchdogs” before and during the election day.
From the title, “Gahum sa Katawhan," the project aspires to provide enlightenment, and power
to pursue action by providing truthful and essential knowledge as a Filipino Voter. It also hopes
to empower the citizens through political and voter education in connection to the status quo.
Furthermore, it follows the See, Judge, Act approach. This is a formative structure that enables
engagement from the participants to absorb the knowledge from the various discussions in the
webinar series.

Given your expertise in this field, we would like to invite you to be our resource speaker
for the first webinar episode, “Episode 1: Ang Pagbotar Ko, Sagrado!”. The discussion we
want to request you to tackle is the first topic entitled, “Hilamdagan sa Salabotan : Voters’
Registration and COMELEC’s Activities for the Elections” which focuses on clarifications on
the upcoming election sand providing information on the preparations of COMELEC concerning
elections during the pandemic. Your presence and knowledge would be a valuable contribution
to this initiative to promote and advocate for good governance for the upcoming Philippine
elections. We would like to inform you that the medium for discussion is Cebuano or Binisaya
for inclusivity and to emphasize the Mindanao-focus electoral campaign.
