Sub.: Request to utilize the 10% of school composite grant for improvement of WASH
related activities in 9233 focused schools.

Respected Sir/ Madam,

With reference to the subject cited above, you are aware that the Assam Swachh Shala, UNICEF-
SSA partnership program is gaining momentum in the field and
believe it will have a very
positive impact in the schools of Assam. Under the program various capacity building
orientation sessions on inmportance of WASH in schools are going on in the field, where the
Headmasters, SMC members and child cabinet are trained on its importance and their roles and
responsibilities to promote and sustain WASH activities and services in their schools. During the
orientations imparted by UNICEF through CEE and WVI the headmasters of the focused schools
are trained to develop a systematic School Swachhata Action Plan, which will help the school to
selfaccess themselves and identify the existing gaps in the field of Water Sanitation and
Hygiene. About more the 50% of the targeted schools has completed their preparation of School
Swachhata Action Plan, the leftover schools are directed to complete their individual plan as
soon as possible.
For successful implementation of the program and result in a positive outcome, I would
like to request you to ensure at district and block level that the 109% fund of the school
composite grant that is allocated for swach hata or sanitation related activities by schools, is
properly utilized by the 9233 focused schools to bridge a minimum gap identified by the school
headteachers through development of SAP. The gap identified in the schools should be mended
as soon as the release of the school composite grant and to be completed latest by 31st of
October 2021
This initiative will lead to improvement of physical WASH services in schools leading to
equitable access of WASH services by children.

Yours faithfully

(Dhrubajyoti, Das, Acs)
