WHAT IT IS
Bloodsmith is an isometric action rogue-lite,
where you craft cool weapons and fight
outlandish enemies in impossible environments.

The game takes place in space between worlds,


called the Crucible, where emotions, concepts
and memories can take material form.

We follow the adventures of a stoic, steadfast


Bloodsmith - a being created by the Crucible as
a paragon of balance, and his companion – a
wild, mischievous Bloodfairy, the embodiment
of new life.
UNIQUE

allows players to create crazy, interesting
weapons - each playing meaningfully different,
and with time allowing players more and more
customization.

THE WORLD
The game takes place in the Crucible – the void
between worlds, devoid of creation other than that
which broke the barrier of it’s original universe.

It’s so full of creative potential, that a single


thought or a stray emotion that reaches it will
grow into a living organism, or a titanic structure,
taking shapeof an extreme representation of itself.
When the outside influence residing in the Crucible
grows too powerful, and threatens to influence any
of the real worlds - the disembodied will of the
Crucible creates a Sentinel.
It’s an amalgamation of useful traits and ideas
taken humanoid form, that’s meantto bring the
balance back to the Crucible. We play as the most
recent Sentinel to come to life.
CHARACTERS: BlOODSMITH
An overseer born of the Crucible’s will, Bloodsmith
is a brilliant craftsman and a formidable warrior.
Just entering the twisted world of the Crucible, he’s
lost and confused, guided only by his sense of duty.
But when he meets the old Sentinel, who he was
meant to replace, his predecessor refuses to
relinquish his title, calling him to weak, naive and
inexperienced, incapable of facing the current crisis.

Our hero then decides to journey out into the wild, to


better understand the word he’s meant to watch over,
learn of the dangers it’s facing and to become
powerful enough to claim his rightful title.

Quiet, stoic and seemingly devoid of humor, he


begins his quest with unflinching confidence.
But only time will tell if he stays this way faced with
the maniac chaos of the Crucible.
CHARACTERS: BlOODFAIRY

The concept of new life given form, Bloodfairy’s wild,


mischievous and infinitely curious. Circumstance
makes her the Bloodsmith’s unlikely traveling
companion.

She acts as his guide to the world of the Crucible, and


supports him in combat with her powerful blood
magic. To support his quest for more power, she also
uses her knowledge of the arcane arts to tattoo
magical runes on his body, using the blood of their
fallen enemies.
Exploration
During the game, players will explore three distinctive biomes, each
centered around one strong concept that bled into the Crucible and
grew out of control. Player will fight creatures they meet there to
push back the outside influence before it can affect other worlds
that connect to the Crucible.

Those concepts are War, Pestilence and Disaster. Environments


and enemies in each of those biomes will explore different aspects
of their respective concepts, resulting in striking, outlandish imagery.

Gameplay-wise players will embark on approximately 45 minute


expeditions into the chosen area - exploring randomly generated
maps, looking for resources, fighting randomly distributed enemies
and upgrading their character with temporary powerups from a pool
of randomized upgrades. The expedition end when the player dies
or defeats the area boss, after which they are send back to the home
base where they can use resources they found to upgrade their
character permanently and craft new weapons with parts they
unlocked before they go out for another expedition.
crafting
The basis of crafting is choosing three parts to form a weapon:
a Blade, a Grip and a Pommel and combine them into a weapon. Despite
the name, Blades can be axeheads, hammerheads, and other, more
exotic parts. The same goes for Handles and Pommels. What parts you
choose will have the following effects:

Grips define most of you basic attacks animations – a weapon based


on a long shaft will have attacks reminiscent to a spear or a two-handed
hammer attacks, twin short grips will result in fast, agile dagger like
attacks and so on. Additionally, grips will affect the defensive capabilities
of weapons (how well can you dodge with it, whether you can block or
parry etc)

Blade of your choice will modify parts of the basic combos, swapping
some attacks for others (e.g. using a heavy hammer head will end your
basic combo in an overhead smash, while using a spear head will add a
flurry of fast stabs) in addition to adding specific properties to your
weapon (like adding stun chance, bleeding, trip chance etc).

Additionally, choosing specific weapon parts will grant special passive


skills (like adding a regenerating shield for using cybernetic pommels)
and modify attributes of your weapons (like adding short knife blades
drastically increasing attack speed while lowering damage dealt)

Mixing and matching unlocked parts will in the end allow players to
create a very specific combat style, perfectly suited to their preferences.
COMBAT
In addition to weapon crafting, players will customize their combat style
further by:

 Choosing different sub-weapons (like a hook on a chain, a shaved-off


shotgun, a hand crossbow etc. Sub weapons are mainly focused on
utility instead of dealing damage

 Selecting Bloodfairy spells. Those are very powerful tools that can be
used sparingly, and are mainly area-control tools. Each spell
summons the Bloodfairy to the battlefield, where she stays for a time
causing a specific effect around her (like slowing down projectiles or
enemies,turning damage dealt to enemies into healing, or charming
some enemies to fight for you

 Selecting two special attacks, from a pool randomized every time you
start an expedition. Those charge when you deal and receive
damage, and have diverse effects – from dealing damage in an area,
getting a temporary buff, summoning allies or launching ranged
attacks.

 Applying temporary upgrades to your weapon during a run. When


you gather enough blood of your enemies, you are awarded with a
selection of a few random upgrades, one of which you can apply to
your weapon (like putting damaged enemies on fire, killed enemies
exploding with poison on death, leaving behind a trail of fire when
you dodge and many, many others. Those upgrades are lost every
time you come back to the home base after a finished expedition.
