Description of The Unit
Description of The Unit
TANK
Tank has three compartments. The first one is preparation compartment, the second one is
ageing department and the last one is storage compartment. These three parts are separated
from each other by welded plates.
POLYELECTROLYTE FUNNEL
It is a stainless steel small tank in which polyelectrolyte is put. Polyelectrolyte in this funnel is
dosed to the main tank by a frequency converter.
MIXERS
There are two mixers in the unit. In the first compartment, there is a rapid mixer used for
polyelectrolyte preparation and in the second compartment, slow mixer used for ageing.
If present, remove the key from the lock and keep it with you during the repairs.
Upon major repairs, it is advisable to remove the “safety fuses” as well.
When bearings, chains, motors, steel cables etc. have to be replaced, you must
check that the most important parts of the installation are blocked against possible
rotation and/or rotating in reverse.
Never remove the guards from the installation when the electrical motor is in operation;
first switch off the installation, and block the starting button before starting
maintenance activities.
In case an installation is clogged, always stop the installation and then investigate the
cause of the clogging.
When an installation is in operation, normally speaking only the grease lubricated points
may be filled provided you can reach them easily and the necessary caution is observed.
After each service and inspection, all guards must be back in their position and all tools
and loose parts must have been removed from the machine.

3. INSTALLATION
Assemble the unit in the balance.
Install the unit in a closed area.
Water which will be supplied the unit shall be clean and it has a minimum pressure of 2
bars.
4. START UP
THE CALIBRATION OF SOLUTION CONCENTRATION
This unit is designed for the preparation of polyelectrolyte within a concentration range of
0.1% and 0.5%
Based on experience, in general sludge can be flocculated with a solution of 0.2% concentration.
For solution calibration, the following steps shall be applied:
- Operate frequency adjustable dry dosing unit. Take a sample for 10 minutes. Multiply this
sample amount with 6 and obtain dry dosed polyelectrolyte amount in terms of “gr/hr”.
- Measure water flow rate from the flow meter as “lt/hr”
- Divide dry dosing amount to water flow. The result will be the solution
concentration.
In order to obtain exact concentration value, repeat the steps above for different capacities and
record in a diagram. This step will help you to change the conditions without making any
calibration.
Tank is full
- Polyelectrolyte preparation continues until its level reaches “tank is full” sensor. When it
reaches, everything will stops except for slow mixer.
When dosing start sensor gives signal, the unit will start operation.
For any reason, “tank is empty” sensor is reached; all functions of the unit will stop. If a
dosing pump exists, it will also stop.
The operation of unit is provided manually or automatically by a control panel.
For the functions of unit explained above, the following conditions shall be provided:
- The diameters of pipes shall not be less than that of the unit.
- Water inlet pressure shall be greater than 2 bar
- If water inlet pressure is less than 2 bars, a centrifuge pump shall be installed.
POLYELECTROLYTE FUNNEL
Pay attention for its dryness. It shall be dry. If there is polyelectrolyte adhering the funnel, clean
it.
TANK
It does not require any maintenance. It shall be cleaned only when polyelectrolyte is poured into
tank.
MIXERS
The maintenance of mechanical mixers shall be done according to their
manufacturer’s instruction given in the attachment.
VENTURI MIXER
Whether there is the adhesion of polyelectrolyte on mixer or not shall be controlled rarely.
The unit is a simple one which does not require any complex maintenance and a general
cleaning for each 15 days will be enough.
- If necessary install a
- Low water pressure
The unit does not pump.
- Failure in solenoid valve
operate - Check solenoid valve
- Thermic failure
