Connect the Spheres


Learning Competencies:
The learners are able to…
1. Identify the factors that allow a planet to support life.
2. Define the concept of a system.
3. Recognize the Earth as a system composed of subsystems.

MATERIALS
 Pencil
 Notebook
 Tape
 Camera (Optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Students should go outside their house (back/front yard) and have a short
nature walk.
2. As they walk, students will record their observations. (Preferably with a Camera)
3. Some questions to think about are:
a. What do you see?
b. What's going on outside these days?
c. What do you see happening in nature?
d. Have you noticed any changes in nature around your home?
4. List Down atleast 5 observations.
5. Take a photo of interaction between different subsystem and each part of each
subsystem (e.g. Birds flying and drinking water - birds (biosphere), sky (atmosphere),
river (hydrosphere).
6. Label each photo on which subsystem it falls under and connect it to the subsystem it
interacts to.
