EVALUATION OF RESEARCH PAPER

LESSON 1: THE RESEARCH PLAN

To ensure that the investigatory papers are of good quality,


students must adhere to the guidelines shown below. These can be
found in the Guidelines and in the Student Handbook and Research Plan
Instructions published in the website:
https://www.societyforscience.org

I. Research Plan:
(This is compiled separately from the rest of the investigatory paper): All
projects should include the following:
A. Question or Problem being addressed
B. Goals / Expected Outcomes / Hypotheses
C. Description in detail of method or procedures (The following are
important and key items that should be included when formulating ANY
AND ALL research plans.)
 Procedures: Detail all procedures and experimental design to
be used for data collection.
• Data Analysis: Describe the procedures to be used to
analyze. the data/ results that answer research
questions or hypotheses.
D. Bibliography: List at least five (5) major references (e.g. science
journal articles, books, internet sites) from your literature review. If you
plan to use vertebrate animals, one of these references must be an
animal care reference.

In short, the following must be submitted as parts of your Research Plan:


I. Introduction
Conceptual Framework
Statement of the Problem
Statement of the Hypothesis
II. Materials and Methods
Collection and Preparation of Needed Materials
Description of Materials Used
Detailed methods and procedures to be done in the experiment
III. Bibliography/References
APA format or Chicago format

Note: The verb should be in future tense since you are still writing your
plan.

(Short bond paper, Times New Roman, 12; Spacing: Right, Top, Bottom
– 1”, Left – 1.5”)

Submission of edited Research Plan will be on September 27, 2021.

Your research plan must follow a formal writing style. Hence, the
grammar in your research plan must be checked by an English teacher
an English critic, or a grammarian.
VERY IMPORTANT: Your research plan will only be accepted by your
research teacher if it is checked already by an English teacher, an
English critic or a grammarian. Use the certification below as your
proof. (You can cut the certification and submit it together with your
research plan.)
