I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of: African literature as a means of exploring forces that human beings contend with; various reading styles vis – à-vis purposes of reading;
prosodic features that serve as carriers of meaning; ways by which information may be organized, related, and delivered orally; and parallel structures and cohesive devices in presenting information.
B. Performance Standards
The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering an informative speech based on a specific topic of interest keeping in mind the proper and effective use of parallel structures
and cohesive devices and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.
C. Learning
Competencies/Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
1. Recognize point of view as an element of a story
2. Skim and scan for information from a text read
3. Listen to a news account to note details
4. Show the relationship of ideas in sentences through the use of transitions
5. Write a summary of a story using a Story Map
6. Exhibit appreciation of the unique literary approach of an African narrative
