THE DEMANDS OF SOCIETY FROM THE TEACHER AS A PROFESSIONAL AND

AS A PERSON

1. What does your list tell about society's expectations from teachers?
ANSWER:
- Society has high expectations of teachers. Today's teachers are expected to have
advanced knowledge and skills and high academic and ethical standards. Teachers are
expected to promote student's academic progress as well as further students' social,
emotional, and moral development and to safeguard students' health and well-being.
My list shows only a few examples of what does society expects from teachers for a
teacher is the key to students achievements.

2. How do you feel? Are you overwhelmed by the litany of expectations?

ANSWER:
- The expectations surely are overwhelming, because a teacher has a tremendous power
to influence student thus one must be a good role model. I must be competent and
effective in teaching; I need to continuously develop my skills in order to provide
effective learning environment and knowledge. There’s a lot of thing a teacher must
do in order to pass the standard of possessing the competencies expected of a
professional teachers because a teacher’s impact on learners lasts. Due to these facts I
am more driven on accepting the challenges I may face in the future.

3. Are you changing your "YES" to the call to teach? Why?

ANSWER:
- No, I am not changing my “YES” to the call to teach. Every profession has its
difficulties, the society’s expectations from teachers maybe overwhelming yet I will
still continue on taking this path for it is what I wanted and passionate about.
Expectations can be met, yes in a hard way but not impossible. I started this and I am
going to finish it. I have always wanted to be an educator, inspiring and motivating
people is something I’m good at. I also wanted to change the world but it is not easy
to do so, so I thought that if I can’t change the world, maybe at least someone’s world
would be change because of me and that’s a start for change. I wanted to teach and
share my knowledge to those people who does not have the privilege on going to
school and also to those who cannot afford to send themselves to study. Overcoming
all the society’s expectations and treating them as a challenge and obstacle to pass
over in order to develop myself will be my motivation to become an effective and
competent teacher in the future.
