Installation examples
The purpose of this instruction is to ensure that the installation of Telia antenna carriers is performed in a
professional manner and that the demands for strength and stability are maintained.
Always read Telia technical specifications to be up to date with the latest regulations and requirements.

This is to ensure:
• that injury to personnel is avoided
• that other equipment is not damaged
• that the antenna carrier is adapted to applicable demands from authorities and regulations
• that the installation does not constitute an unnecessary obstacle for future installations
• that the installation site is documented in the required manner

The most important thing to consider when building an antenna system is its function.

Guidance to connection of telecommunications equipment for -48V

rectifier systems (translated from Norwegian doc)
This guide will describe on how to work related to the installation of rectifier and battery pack, as well as connection
to rectifiers for the -48VDC side and pulling of cable from rectifier to telecommunications outlet. This document is
based on FEK and will provide a simple description of the interface up to the telecommunications equipment fed with
-48VDC.

FEK - Regulations
This document is based on the Norwegian regulations relating to electrical enterprises and qualification
requirements for work related to electrical installations and electrical equipment and the statements made by
NKOM and DSB.
Work related to the installation of rectifiers and battery packs, as well as connection to rectifiers on the -48VDC
side and the pulling of cable from rectifier to telecommunications equipment shall be carried out by registered
electrical companies in Norway, with expertise in this type of work.
To carry out the work, the electrical company must use a person who satisfies the requirements for certificates in
electrical work that are relevant to the different tasks, cf. FEK Section 6 of the regulations: “Relevant certificate
will be a certificate as an electrician”.
Persons with Electrical certificate from other countries
To work independently as an electrician in Norway, the person must apply for approval from DSB. This is done cf.
Section § 11, § 12 and §13. Application can be found at www.dsb.no: “Electro professionals who have acquired
professional qualifications abroad.”

5
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021
Resources with Electrical certificates
The Norwegian term electro professionals means persons belonging to the profession group electrical skilled
worker and the profession group person who has the professional responsibility for work related to electrical
installations. These persons can independently carry out work, maintenance, and repairs at an electrical system.
Training on -48VDC rectifier systems
Persons working on -48VDC rectifier systems are required to receive adequately and relevant documented
training.
Non-authorized skilled auxiliary worker (EKOM authorized installer)
Unskilled persons according DSB cannot independently work with electrical systems but can do some work under
the supervision of an electrician who is at work at any given time when working with electrical systems. The
subject manager and certified electrician shall always only use auxiliary workers who have the sufficient
competence required for the given task.
Good planning of electrical work carried out at base stations
Contractors must plan the construction process and get all the electrical work done while the electrician is at the
base station (site), where the electrician is not part of the team of mounting.
When the electrician is physically present at site, all pulling of the -48VDC power cable with connections end-to-
end should be made. Where there is a connection against EKOM-equipment such as RRU, this can be properly
secured (also secured against water intrusion) and later to be inserted into the RRU by a non-certified electrical
person, such as an EKOM authorized installer.
Work on rectifiers by Eltek certified
Everyone who works with Eltek rectifiers should be Eltek certified or have documented training of someone who
is certified.
Work with rectifiers that do not necessarily require electrical certification, can be:
- Install the rectifier itself and fix it in the floor or wall.
- Insert batteries with IP20 protection on the poles into rectifiers without connecting.
- Install rectifier modules and replace defective ones. If more modules are added to the existing system,
declaration of conformity shall be submitted so that the FA (Subject Manager) has verified that pre-
connected fuse is OK before increasing the capacity.
- Connect and configure rectifier via Ethernet cable.
- Pulling and connecting the alarm cable to the Smartpack. But pulling the cables in the power core can only
happen by non-certified electrician if rectifiers are not voltage set on. If the system has voltage, there
must be a certified electrician present.
- Replace the Smartpack when upgrading controller and replacing defective controllers.

12
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

Points to be highlighted:
-label on each top of racks
-rack needs to be fixed on the wall in 2 points, if not possible to the wall need to be fixed in the floor
-MP plate should be installed at the back side of the rack, properly grounded.
-normally the spare fibers should be terminated in fiber box. Dc cables also in box terminated with “spare” marking
-all equipment’s to be grounded to the ground bar. If not available bar use C clamps and connect to MET

Agreed good methods of fibers layout :

Cable separation
Separation of cables shall be done. Power cables and radio cables shall be separated so that is ensures that the EMC
regulations are fulfilled. If possible, HF cables shall also be fitted so that the EMC regulations are fulfilled.
The following drawing shows how the cables shall be separated and be placed on a Telia station.

16

Examples of groundings (SPD and Sensor Hub, top of the rack). Not recommended to use heat shrink tube at the end
of groundings. In Telia stations C clamps are NOT covered with tape. Left picture: grounding shoe obturating
equipment below. Angled cable shoe would be preferred, or different routing.

A very good example how to be routed/fixed the cables

17
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

Installation mistakes here: 1. Right side Dc cables should be routed on top of strain relief bar (fixed to it), 2.Grounding
routed wrongly, 3.Original grounding point should be bended over (much easier to route the cables on top):

18
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021
Highligths:
-all cables/fibers routed sideways, no loops allowed, not obstructing other equipment’s
-fuse list on paper for the rack must be available, preferable not handwritten
-if site room has high temperature sensor, picture needed (set to 40 degrees):

High temp sensor and the MET (Main Earth Terminal). One cable at each screw, if not enough move one to the back
of the MET.

Cable ladders to be grounded, also the top of the racks

19
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

KNURR RACK HAS NO GROUNDING BAR RITTAL has grounding bar (backside)
(C press should be used)
2 scenarios:
1.Rack has grounding bar:
-All rack equipment’s to be grounded to it even SPD’s
-Baseband’s grounding position can be upside down

2.Rack without grounding bar:

-Use one Y/G cable min. 25mm2 connected to BRC as main grounding for rack equipment’s
- All rack equipment’s to be grounded to it even SPD’s with C presses
- Baseband’s grounding position can be upside down

20
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

Telia: Correct, we want to avoid unnecessary length of ground cables. So, if the shortest way is up – then I don’t see a
problem with that.
But the cables must still be routed in a sensible way.

Telia: In the lower example it should probably be installed a ground bar, that’s a lot of c-presses.

21

Telia’s Inntaksplate examples. Al holes used heat shrink tube to seal. Unused holes to be sealed properly. No silicone
allowed for sealing. The incoming cable should have a small water drop loop, avoiding water to reach wall/tube. The
rule is to put labels on both ends of entrance. The plate needs to be grounded to the MET. Important rule: all Dc cables
and RF cables need to be grounded before entering room/building with approved kits. (Exception: factory made SF
jumpers)

-MP plate should be installed at the back, properly grounded.
-fuse list on paper for the rack’s must be available and updated
-Battery fuses FB all should be turned on even if just only one battery string installed (cable free ends properly sealed)
-All cables should be labeled properly
-Battery controller position is on the top of the string
-Dc cables both ends also should contain info’s about length and diameter of cable
-Colocation sites using different labeling rules as Telia:

Smartpack settings and Sensor Hub

Each installation team should have at least one Eltek certified person to perform setting on Smartpack controllers.
Full instructions how to be performed also contains the document:
05.02-01 - Installation and commissioning guideline for Sensor HUB and SmartCom Smartpack R
Highlights:
-Always use certified personnel to perform this job
-Always use the correct xml, available on Telia’s Share point:

-Always use the correct software package, (the latest available on IDUR): (today version 2.10 the highest)

-External alarms must be tested before leaving site. No active alarms should be left on site
-Manual settings from instructions not to be omitted, example:

33

Basebands installation

Typical positioning of basebands inside minishelter, together with Sensor Hub. Fiber tray used for guiding fibers, all
cables labeled and positioned properly. What should be done more properly: Hylle for fibers should be under patch
panel and plastic cover to not be removed
Point to be highlighted:
-all cables/fibers need to be routed in proper way, to the left and right, not above or under the basebands. Also, the
cables should not obstruct the service work or replacement of equipment’s.
-all 4 screws mandatory to be used, as possible the same models.
-grounding point on the left mandatory to the MET. Inside shelter not to be used C clamps
-power cable baseband is factory made 2.5 mm2
-Minimum one set of rails under basebands (one set can hold up to 5 basebands)
-Alternate way of installing “rails” if Eltek cabinet has no option:

Important: Old high temp sensor should be demounted from site rooms when Sensor Hub is installed. Sensor Hub
have its own temp sensor.
Points to be highlighted:
-installed in a way to not be obstructed
-grounded with proper Y/G cable with star washer under shoe
-all back cables should have labels

SPD’s installations

All sites must have SPD (Surge Protect Device) installed to protect powered outdoor equipment’s. Together with
grounding kits mounted in each Dc and RF cable (except SF) when entering building/room/minishelter assuring site
full protection. Maximum allowed distance Fuses-SPD is 7 meters. (max +10%). Each SPD has external alarm and
must be tested.
If FC does not mention to install SPD, can be proposed during TSSR phase. If not installed for various reasons –
comment should be added to SIR.

41

Example of rack mounted SPD’s laying cables in front using strain relief bars. Grounding the units are mandatory.
Fixing cables to the strain relief bar should be done. Bending over side metal wing should be done.

Grounding not to be splitted. Here 2 multi dc cables used => 2 groundings connected correctly, one each cable

42
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

Grounding splitted wrongly

Example of wall mounted SPD. Grounding is mandatory. Cable lugs to be used on multiwire cables. Single wired
cables do not need lugs.

Points to be highlighted:
-Strain relief to be used for cables guiding (metal plate for guiding cables)
-All SPD’s to be grounded
-Correct labels to be used
-External alarm to be connected and tested
-Laying the cables in good aesthetical way, not to obturate other equipment’s

43
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

When installing a -48VDC surge protection device (SPD) it should be placed as close as possible to the -48VDC
distribution in question,
Normally the rectifier or separate power distribution unit (PDU). In some cases, it is not possible to place the SPD in
immediate proximity to the -48VDC distribution, in such cases 7m is regarded as the maximum cable length between
the PDU and the SPD.

QUIZ: how many installation mistakes can be identified in this picture:

At least 4: 1.Cables should be routed right side ways and fixed to strain relief bar. 2SPD grounding obturating
baseband – difficulties when need to be replaced. 3.Fiber guide using the same screw as the baseband. 4.Sensor Hub
grounding shoe too big, diameter of cable also too big

The HVDC system in from Eltek delivers 380VDC from the site room to the RRUs when there are long distances
between the site room and the RRUs.
-48VDC is supplied by the site's rectifiers to the Central office. The central office transforms the -48VDC to 380VDC.
You can reuse existing cables or add new ones. Outside where the RRUs sits you need to install a Remote Unit (RU)
that transforms from 380VDC back to -48VDC. Max load of RRU is 4500W.

Central Office is a 19 "power core that is mounted either below -48V power core in rectifier cabinet or in a standard
19" Rack. If its installed in a rack you need to use a shelf or sliding rails because of weight.
It is connected to load fuse in -48V rectifiers. This must be secured with a 125A.
In the front there are 2 fuses, as well as 2 pieces SPD (Surge protection device) and here you insert the modules.

Alarms
We use alarm input at RRU (Ericsson) to RU. There are 2 alarm inputs at RRU and 3 alarm inputs at RU, this means
two RRUs must be used to transmit the alarms. The Remote Unit (RU) alarms are configured and defined in the
database (OSS).
Alarm output is for SPD, loadfuse and module errors.
Alarm relays in RU are normally closed (NC) and give alarm at open (NO).
The alarms must be defined in the OSS as SPD, Loadfusealarm and Module failure DC HVDC

Antenna carriers’ installations

Installation of macro antennas

Installation of macro antenna in tower

When installing macro antennas in the tower, we have two preferred solutions.
1. Antenna mounted on a pole that is attached to an adjustable bracket so that the RRUS can be
placed behind the antenna.
2. Antenna mounted to a pole that is attached to the tower frame leg. (Preferred solution when RRU
is not installed the tower.)

Installation of macro antenna on rooftop

When installing macro antennas on rooftop, the following solutions is used
1. Antenna mounted on a gravitation mount.
2. Antenna mounted on a pole on the façade
3. Antenna mounted on the façade. (Special cases)

Installation of macro antenna in a post.

When installing a macro antenna in a post, one shall use a key clamp antenna support
Each antenna mounted to a wooden post shall have 1 through bolt.
The antenna should always be placed under the yellow warning sign (Yellow warning sign is installed
between the antenna and an air power cable.
When fixing cables to posts, you shall always use spacer clamps and all the cables shall be on the same
side of the post. This is done to allow the use of pole climbing shoes to perform operational and
maintenance work.

Note: Splitters are to be mounted on the antenna pipe behind the antenna, and not on the post.

Copper visible on connector

Points to be highlighted:
-Kramek to be replaced.
-concrete block should assure stability of the structure, protective layer under must be in good shape
-using of double nuts makes it safer and its mandatory. Even RRU support rail should be fixed with double nuts.
-counter fixing of RRU’s on rails must be tightened
-laying of cables should be done in a good matter, avoiding bending radius, danger of stepping on, using of tapes
under zip ties, avoiding fixing on sharp edges. On cable ladders and indoor installation zip tie without tape is OK.
-Only outdoor cable ladders allowed outside, even on covered walls
-Telia sticker must be applied on antennas, rooftop exit must have EMF warning sign (when it’s a possible danger that
somebody accidentally can enter in antennas area)
-Tilt mounting to follow these rules: If FC says Top or Bottom that should be followed. If FC states NONE, we have 2
cases: 1. If visible impact or weight issues (stated in docs) no tilt to be installed. 2. If nothing like before - following
logical order : 0 or positive use Top, for negative Bottom.
-Clearance for antennas lobes should be respected. Nothing in front of antennas allowed (even RRU’s also)
-Any deviation from Project Report or FC should be discussed with Telia prior to finish site.
-Antenna and RRU’s RF connectors MUST be tightened according to specifications
-Use nice painting if required

Diplexers/combiners installation

Various methods of fixing. If handmade connectors used – top part need to be vulked to avoid water infiltrations.
Because it’s interpreted as main feeder – labeling to antennas must contain jumper type/length and antenna height.

Points to be highlighted:
-be sure of good fixing, metallic ziptie should be shortened and not HMS danger. If bolts are used in towers must be
shortened to 2.5-3 cm and protective painted, on rooftop only if it’s a clear HMS issue
-Top part should be Vulk used if handmade connectors used.
-Beware of the bending radius, after connector normally use min 5cm of straight line
-Marking the end going to antennas should contain length/type of jumper and the antenna height also

Mounting of combiner on rooftops

• If the antenna is mounted on a pipe on the façade

➢ Combiner shall be mounted on the pipe behind the antenna, but not between the pipe and antenna due to tilting.

• If the antenna is mounted on a gravitation antenna carrier.

➢ Combiner is placed on the antenna pipe, but not between the pipe and the antenna du to tilting.

RRU’s installations

Normally, one should place an RRU as close to the antenna as possible to reduce cable losses. It
should be easy to access for service or replacement. RRU shall always be mounted so that it is not covered
in snow or ice during the winter and have a good possibility for effective cooling during summer. It shall
have minimum height of 30 cm from the lower edge of RRU to the ground.

Refer to “05.01-01 - Requirements - Electrical” for installation of power for the RRU
Refer to “04.01-01 - Requirements - Earthing” for how to ground the RRU

Installation of RRU on buildings/rooftops

Normally RRU is installed close to the antenna as possible. To make this possible the following solutions
should be used depending on what type of the structure the site is built on.
1. Gravity mount on the antenna carrier
2. Gravity mount beside the antenna carrier.
3. Mounted on wall on a rail beside the antenna or on the inside with the antenna on the other side
of the wall.
4. On the antenna pole
5. Mounted in 19” rack in the technical room.

When RRU are installed behind the antenna it shall not prevent the possibility of turning the antenna 15
degrees or tilting of the antenna.
At building sites, one should consider that RRU should preferably be easily accessible for service. It should
preferably be mounted so that sky lift/crane/climbing equipment is not needed to replace it

Installation on walls Clearance required

RRU in site room/GF-shelter (19” rack)
• • When installing RRU in rack you shall use the rack form for the project to see how the RRUs shall
be placed. Normal standard is to fill up the rack from the bottom. There are various sizes on the RRU so
normally one shelf can be filled up with two or three RRUs.
• • The RF-cables from the RRU shall be routed above the RRU they are connected to, as shown in
picture

Comment:
-Minimum distance as it is in specifications is 7mm. Soon update will come regarding this subject.
Until that, please assure the maximum possible distance (rail permitted) between RRU’s, especially on
indoor sites where critical temperature is easy to reach.
-Indoor sites ALWAYS MUST HAVE FAN’s. Use compatible RRU’s types.
-On semi indoor sites like a barn, or covered area – installer team has the responsibility to check if proper
ventilation is assured. Correct way to check : during TSSR phase can be identified if FAN compatible
RRU’s are needed and can be proposed. Always bring the subjects to deviation meetings if you have
doubts. Don’t start work if any question marks exist.

Fastening of equipment in tower and on rooftops

• All radio equipment shall be secured with nylon lock nut or two nuts (double nut).
• All equipment mounted on antenna pipes shall have at least one bracket above the lower beam.
• Threaded rods free ends should be cut down to a maximum of 25 mm length outside nuts. (Tower)
• Antenna brackets of type Key-Clamp shall have solid through bolts with lock nuts. Refer to drawing “03.01-01-03 -
Drawing - Key Clamp antenna support”
• If there is no beam under the bracket for the equipment, there needs to be inserted a bolt thru the pipe, that prevents
the antenna from falling if the nuts on the bracket come loose.
• Note: It’s important to use zinc spray after you have drilled a hole in the pipe.
• Equipment with single fixture shall always be mounted above the lower beam.

TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021
Routing of cables in a tower
When installing cables in a Telia tower its important the following rules is followed.
It’s important that the strength calculation for the tower in question is taken into account, when mounting
cables in the tower. If strength calculation specifies a certain width of the cables that are already exceeded or will be
exceeded with the new installation, the new installation must not be performed. Telia Tower must be notified about
the actual cable width in the tower.
If RRU are installed in the top of the tower, it’s important that you try to keep the total width of cables down
to 200mm. This will help to reduce the total wind load on the tower.
If RRU is not installed in the tower, one will get more cables in the tower and therefore one should try to keep
the total width of the cables to a maximum of 400mm with this solution.
When doing a modification, it’s important that you don’t use more space than necessary. One should always fill up
existing clamps before installing a new one.
It’s important that all cables are routed with clamps in our towers.
When routing fiber and DC power cables to the RRU in a tower, the following clamps shall be used:
• Fimo type code: 6015160205 – art: OX M/4x22+SAT 1x8+1x10M – dim: 7-14mm
• Fimo type code: 6015160198 – art: OX M/4x22+SAT 1x8+1x10M – dim: =14-22mm
Note: Fiber cables shall be marked with “caution fiber optic cable” sign every ten meters

Combiner (Diplexer, Triplexer and Quadplexer)

In general, a combiner should be mounted as close to the antenna as possible, but it should not hinder
RRU to be installed behind the antenna. RRUs are always prioritized when placement is decided.
When fastening it to a pole the use of a hose clamp is an approved method.
When fastening it to a wall, use of screws is the normal method

Mounting of combiner in a tower

• • If the antenna is mounted on boom/parallel fixtures:
• ➢ Combiner should be mounted behind the antenna on the antenna pipe and facing inward toward
the tower, but not between the pipe and antenna due to tilting.
• • If the antenna is mounted on pipes on the tower:
• ➢ Combiner should be mounted under the antenna on the antenna pipe
• • If the antenna is mounted without pipe:
• ➢ Combiner is mounted external on the tower in a free position within the height that the antenna
occupies on the tower.
• • If the antenna is mounted on a pipe over the top:
• ➢ Combiner is mounted on the pipe behind the antenna. If this is not possible, it should be mounted
on the tower as close to the antenna as possible.

Mounting of combiner on a post

• The combiner should be mounted under the antenna on the antenna pipe TMA

-Preferred solution in towers is to be mounted on tower’s legs, position as it can be seen below examples
-Griptel elements to be used with rubber mats under RRU’s
-Vertical distance between RRU’s min 40 cm. This leads to some exceptions:
-If antenna is long enough, 3 RRU’s can be mounted at the back of antenna on mast legs. If not, one RRU can
be moved to free leg
-If antenna is short, 2 RRU’s behind antenna on leg, third one to free leg. Be careful with colocation sites
where not allowed to occupy more space than is in the lease
-All RRU’s to be grounded to tower leg with approved clamps. Dc cable connector to be properly executed. All RF
connectors to be tighten with wrench tool.

General earthing rules on all Telia stations

• All earth connections must be done by using Cable lug or C-press.

o Cable lugs and C-press shall be double pressed .
o Splicing clamps shall be C-pressed .
• You shall not use tape on C-press, on stations Telia owns.
• All types of Cu cables shall be grounded just before wall penetration.
• Damaged galvanizing is repaired with two coats of zinc spray or zinc paint.

G/kit on DC power cables

DC power cables shall be grounded just before wall penetration
• When Roxtec BG B is installed; the shield/earth must be connected to the BG B modules.
• On sites where there is no Roxtec BG B installed, a grounding kit must be used. This includes sites where
there is outdoor cabinets (DC cable shall be grounded before the cable goes in to the cabinet
• The following grounding kit shall be use
- Fimo UEK 2 =universal earthing kit d. 12-30
G/kit on RF Cables on Telia stations General G/kit rules for all sites
• RF cables must be earthed in a Roxtec cable penetration, in accordance with supplier's instruction manual.
• Deviations are clarified with Telia.

In tower.
G/Kit is mounted on feeder cables in tower as follows:
• The upper G/kits shall be connected at the end of the main feeder cable by the antennas
• Lower G/kit shall be connected at the bottom of the tower where the feeder goes from vertical mounting to
horizontal (lying on the cable bridge).
• If the RF cable is ≤ 15 m. one G/Kit is sufficient before cable penetration into the building.
• If the feeder length exceeds 60m after wall penetration, a G/Kit shall be mounted at the middle of the length
of the feeder. (This is because maximum distance allowed between G/kit is 60m)
• If feeder length exceeds ≥120m after wall penetration, G / kits shall be divided over the feeder length.
(Maximum allowed length between each G / kit is 60m.)
• All G/Kit on black FE ≤Cu 16 mm2 cable shall be connected to clamp or bar.

• If the RF cable is ≤ 15 m. one G/Kit is sufficient before cable penetration into the building.
• If the feeder length exceeds 60 m after wall penetration, a G/Kit shall be mounted at the middle of the length
of the feeder. (This is because maximum distance between G/kit is 60m)
• If feeder length exceeds ≥120m after wall penetration, G / kits shall be divided over the feeder length.
(Maximum allowed length between each G / kit is60m.)
• All G/Kit on black FE ≤Cu 16 mm2 cable from G/kit are connected to the 35 mm² yellow-green Rooftop PE
Bonding conductor that follows the cable bridge.

Very bad use of C clamps

130
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

All grounding kits need to be waterproofed with butyl tape, and insulation tape (Hubert)
Only agreed kits are allowed to be used. Ericsson grounding kits not anymore in use.

From guidelines:
- On all new sites shall have 35mm2 from MET to Antenna installation.
- When adding New sector or larger change as moving sectors and cable ladders new 35mm2 from MET to that
antenna installation.
- When doing swap of only radio equipment, fiber, and power cables you can use existing grounding. This is
where we use the cable ladder as grounding.
- ASP is then responsible to check that the existing infrastructure is grounded in site MET before grounding
new radio equipment to the existing infrastructure.
- If somehow the existing do not fill the requirements for grounding, ASP fix it if the issue is small or create a
new 35mm2 cable from MET to antenna installation.

Ex: If all cable ladders are not bund together with 35mm2 cable or fixed with splices with corrosion-resistant trough-
bolt with nut and lock-washer

General rule for rooftop sites:

131
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021
Rooftop with tower mounted antennas:

AIR and Comba antennas on tower.

AIR should be grounded to tower on top (with agreed clamps). Feeders on bottom of tower. Dc cables for AIR before
entering building with FIMO kit. (This site has no PTTA).

132
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

Scenario:
3x3 double wired dc cables coming from minishelter to SPD on the wall – going out 3x multi dc power cable
3x double wired dc cables coming from minishelter (through indoor SPD) going straight to AIR antennas
Correct grounding point for Dc cables:
1. 3x grounding kit for multi dc power cables after the SPD
2. 3x grounding kit for the direct dc cables going to AIR’s before entering minishelter

ALD installation
When we need to install ALD (Antenna Line Device) to control RET (the max length of RET cable is not enough
(>15m)), that should be installed in proper position, like the diplexers for example. Longer jumper and Ret cable
needed. (not just 1m) RET cable not allowed to be extended. One piece of factory made cable allowed only.

This device needs to be grounded as well.

TMA

TMAs are normally positioned as closely as possible to the antenna, but also accessible for service and maintenance
without using sky lift.
Refer to “04.01-01 - Earthing on Telia Norway stations” for how to ground the RRU
Regulations for TMA Mounting in a tower
• If the antenna is mounted on boom/parallel fixtures:
➢ TMA should be mounted behind the antenna on the antenna pipe and facing inward toward the tower, but not
between the pipe and antenna due to tilting.
• If the antenna is mounted on pipes on the tower:
➢ TMA should be mounted behind the antenna on the antenna pipe and facing inward toward the tower, but not
between the pipe and antenna due to tilting.
• If the antenna is mounted without pipe:
➢ TMA is mounted externally on the mast in a free position within the height that the antenna occupies on the tower.
• If the antenna is mounted on a pipe over the top:
➢ TMA is mounted on the pipe behind the antenna. If this is not possible, it should be mounted on the tower as close
to the antenna as possible.
Regulations for TMA Mounting on buildings/rooftops
• If the antenna is mounted on a pipe on the facade which is accessible for adjustment and service without the use of a
crane or skylift:
➢ TMA can be mounted on the pipe behind the antenna, but not between the pipe and antenna due to tilting.
• If the antenna is not mounted on a pipe or the antennas are mounted so that one cannot gain access for service
without using a skylift/crane/safety man:
➢ TMA is mounted on the wall or antenna foot so that one can access it for service without using a
skylift/crane/safety man.
• TMA shall not be mounted lying on its side. It shall always be mounted upright in accordance with markings on the
product.
• TMA shall not be mounted so that it becomes covered in snow or ice. In such cases it must be protected. Minimum
mounting height 30 cm under edge.
Regulations for TMA Mounting on a post

Weight consideration when installing equipment on site

When equipment is installed. It’s crucial that weight of the equipment is considered when deciding how it shall be
installed. Both the weight limit of the supports, and the weight limit of the tower/rooftop/walls/poles needs to be taken
into consideration. If there is any doubt about if the roof/tower/wall/pole can handle the weight of the equipment the
SPL and radio planner needs to be contacted for a new solution.

Example of an installation with too much weight on the pole and the wall

Telia specification:
11.01-01 - AS-Built documentation requirements - Telia Norway & Telia Tower

Strength calculation should be considered when not sure about structural strength. This is valid for all kind
of structures e. g. Roof, Floor, Tower/Mast, Tripod, Wooden pole, Wall.

Structural condition must be taken into consideration such as rust, rotten wood, concrete corrosion in
calculation.

Existing equipment should be taken into consideration with new design and calculated in respect of existing
structures. If required, drawings of structures should be requested from e.g. landlord or municipal
department in order to perform an accurate strength calculation. Created strength calculation has to be
uploaded to Telia portal (Orange Cube) in pdf format and added to As built - "Site Design.pdf". Structural
Strength Calculation can only be performed by an authorized entrepreneur.

144
TELIA OUSLAND SITE INSTALLATION V1.7 PV 24.08.2021

Cleaning the site before one leaves the station

The site room and surrounding areas must be kept tidy throughout the assembly period.
When assembly is complete the room must be clear of debris and the equipment must be free of dust. Floor and
skirting boards must be washed with soap and water.

Warning signage

When there is a possibility for the general public to enter the operating zone, a warning signage must be placed on the
door, window or roof hatch so that we follow the authority requirements.

Recommendation for making As-built documentation:

-Always provide good quality pictures, with good zoom possibility
-As-built photos should be done AFTER site is finished. Reflecting FINAL stage of works
-Provide many relevant pictures for each chapter what was the scope of work. Example: take attention for chapter 13
pictures - not showing antennas/supports correctly from distance (Antennas (overview)). Better to have less very good
photos than many blurred
-Try to capture in one picture many relevant points
-Documents to be created, photos captured, named as it is in the specification: 11.01-01 - As-Built documentation
requirements - Telia Norway & Telia Tower
-Take extra care providing correct Colocation documents/photos: 11.01-01-01 - As-Built documentation requirements
- CoLo sites
Remember this logic: perfectly executed site ----- perfectly created/uploaded docs and photos ---- very fast site
acceptance------
