Fastening Bay Structure Step 5d

Match Drill holes

M8 hardware

Cover Plate rim

spacing at each end of
the bay should be
field adjusted to be
within 25mm after all Figure 21 - Cross Brace to Main Girder Assembly
panels have been
installed. Work Instruction

16. Once the bay is complete, check that the Cover Plate spacing
between the sketch panel and the Rim Channel at both ends of the
bay are within 25mm of each other, see Figure 20. If dimensions are
not within 25mm, adjust components to even out gap at both ends.
17. Match drill through the Main Girder and into the bottom flanges of
the Cross Brace and fasten Cross Braces to the Main Girder. See
Project Construction Drawings and Figure 21.
a. Cross Brace orientation and a tight fit against Main Girders
is critical for proper location of support legs or suspension
Figure 20 - Center Bay Assembly points, Reference construction drawings for roof support
locations. See Appendix A for suspended roof or Appendix
B for a fixed leg supported roof.
b. If the Cross Brace requires a leg housing, ensure that the
Cross Brace is oriented correctly (see Project Construction
Drawings).
18. If the bay requires any special framing of appurtenances, reference
Project Construction Drawings and see Appendix C for framing
installation.

Figure 22 - Center Bay Installation Hold Point 3

Hold point

After completion of center bay (panels and Cross

Braces)

• Verify location of Main Girders

• Verify panel installation – panels are in correct
location
• Check radial dimension from Main Girder to rim –
dimensions should be the same both directions
• Verify leg housings are installed in the proper
locations (if applicable)
• Verify any appurtenance locations and
installation

Interior Leg Installation Step 6a

*Note: See Appendix A for a suspended roof or Appendix B for a fixed leg supported roof.
*Note: At this point some of the crew can continue to step 7 and installing the next bay while others complete
step 6.

Once the roof is complete, use the screw jacks

to slowly lower the roof one leg at a time no
more than 25-50 mm at a time. Contact the
Engineering Department for further questions
and instructions on how to safely lower the
roof to operating height.

Work Instructions

19. Install interior legs at locations shown in

Construction Drawings. See Figure 23.
a. Level the bay along the length of the
Main Girder.
b. Drop the leg through the housing and
match drill through the predrilled holes
Figure 23 - Interior Leg Installation in the leg housing to fix the leg at
construction height.
c. Pin in place with a Clevis Pin.
d. Recheck the bay is level.
e. Repeat for all interior leg supports in the
bay.
