Teenage Parents and Single Parents

VI. Overview

Teenage pregnancy continue to rise its number throughout the years. The city of Davao, especially
the Km. 14, Barangay Panacan is one of the contributors of having high percentage of teenage
pregnancy in the Philippines. Most of its teenage mothers experienced the life of a single parent of a
very young age in which they have to sacrifice their studies and look for possible ways to suffice their
daily needs.

According to Dela Cruz, A. (2017) teenage mothers are experiencing difficulties during their
pregnancy and regrets of during early pregnancy. It is hard for them to provide the needs of their
children but despite of that it gives them a motivation to fight and survive. Teenage pregnancy during
their puberty experience in how to manage their life as teenage mother. Those includes emotional
attainment, willingness to take care of her children (Mercado, R., 2017).

Thus, raising a child as a single parent is not only physically demanding, it can also be emotionally
exhausting. Aside from obvious problems involving financial, lack of resources and simply not having
enough time to do everything. There is always that constant fear that you are completely messing up as
a parent and failing your kids (Roxas, M., 2019).

VII. Objectives
1. To assist the young parents and give them guidance.
2. To give them hope and encouragement even with their current situation.
3. To help them boost their confidence.
4. To give an idea on how to put up a small business.
5. To teach them how to bake, apply make-up, manicure, pedicure and beads-made
handicraft.
6. To keep them close to God and let them see how blessed they are.

VIII. Expected Outputs

1. The seminars will give them motivation, encouragement and guidance.


2. They will have knowledge on how to put up at least a small business.
3. They will know the basic strategies in baking pastry products.
4. They will learn how to make beads-made handicraft.
5. They will learn how to apply make-up, manicure and pedicure.
