READING AND WRITING

PERFORMANCE TASK #1
Second Semester, Fourth Grading Period

Netflix is about to launch a one-of-a-kind Asian Romantic Comedy Series titled Elation
Club.
It is about young people studying in United University of Asia. The interesting twist of the
story is that the characters who are taking different courses collided, as rivals turned to best friends,
on Elation Club (a talent group like Glee Club). In addition to the uproar and humor of the Asian
RomCom Series, they are all hiding special superpowers, except for one, Zoe (Shen Yue).
Below are the main cast of the said hilarious Netflix series:

Japanese actors: Taishi Nakagawa as “Ishi” and Yuna Taira as “Yuna”

Taiwanese actors: Hu Yi Tian as “Ken” and Shen Yue as “Zoe”
Korean Actors: Cha Eun-Woo as “Kienzo” and Kim Yoo-jung as “Hong”
Thai Actors: Bua Nalinthip as “Prao” and Pon Nawasch as “Chalun”
Filipino Actors: Cassy Legaspi as “Nina” and Darren Espanto as “Yohan”

You are one of the three screenwriters of the Elation Club. You are assigned to write the
scene when they are all forced to reveal their superpowers. The episode must show that they are
trapped in a situation and they need to work together, then learn more about their powers so they can
fight against their enemies. Below are the instructions given by the Head Screenwriter, Michael
Golamco (an American playwright and screenwriter, of Filipino and Chinese American descent).

INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARATION
1. On a scratch paper, create a draft of the dialogue/script (with 300-500 words only) wherein
the characters are about to reveal their special superpowers, only to one another. Decide
whether you will include all the characters in the scene or not, but at least there are six
characters involved. Decide what superpower each one has. Decide on the setting, and other
elements of the scene.
2. Make them use intertextuality in their conversation. You also need to make sure that the
dialogue is humorous using intertexts. NO to profane words, obscene words, violence, all
types of discrimination, and other non-academic utterances.
3. Proofread your work by checking basic grammar rules, content, organization, and
acceptable humor. Use capital and lowercase letters properly and observe proper use of
punctuation marks. If it is possible for you to ask other professionals who can proofread
your work, you are free to do so.

FINAL OUTPUT
1. Finalize the script on a piece of clean short bond paper. Make sure to write legibly.
2. You may also submit printed or softcopy of your output. Use double space, 1 inch of
margin at all sides, Font Type: Times New Romans, Font Size: 12.
3. Underline the INTERTEXTS used in the dialogue. Give brief information about the source
of intertexts on a separate paper. You may state the origin of the intertexts like, from which
book, story, author, movie, song, etc. they are from.
4. Submit your FINAL OUTPUT on or before May 31, 2021.
5. Do not forget to PROVIDE THESE INFORMATION:
