EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture

“My Space, My Rights” Video Competition

Overview and Mechanics

1. General Project Information

Theme: “My Space, My Rights”
Submission Period: 17 March 2021 – 1 May 2021
Deadline for Submission: 1 May 2021 at 5:00 PM
General Orientation of Shortlisted Teams: 5 June 2021
Awarding Ceremony: 26 June 2021 at 3:00 PM

2. Who May Participate

a. The EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture “My Space, My Rights” video competition is
open to all duly accredited Philippine tertiary schools. All entries and application forms must
be submitted to secretariat@euwhiz.ph. Application forms must also be signed by the
school’s official representative as an official endorsement of the team to the competition.

b. Only bona fide Filipino students currently enrolled for the school year 2021-2022, may
submit entries through the process stipulated in Section 3.A.

3. How to Participate
a. Phase I: Submission of Entry. Each group should have three (3) members and shall elect its
own leader who will directly communicate with the competition’s official secretariat team.
Each team should accomplish the downloadable application form through
https://eeas.europa.eu/delegations/philippines_en or
http://euwhizfyf2021.engage.eu/ and submit the accomplished form at
secretariat@euwhiz.ph with the following attachments from 17 March 2021 to 1 May 2021
at 5:00 PM:
i. Endorsement letter from the school signed by its official representative
ii. Google drive link where the 60 to 90 second video is uploaded (make sure that the
file uploaded on the file is accessible and downloadable.)
iii. Signed declaration form indicating that the participating team acknowledges that
the entry that they are submitting is original and it does not infringe on the
copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual
property of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or
interest in the video material.

b. Phase II: Initial Screening and Evaluation of Applications. All entries will go through a series
of screening process to be conducted by the secretariat team to check if the entries meet
the technical requirements set forth by the Delegation of the European Union to the
Philippines.
c. Phase III: Judging: Qualified applications will be evaluated and judged by the set of jurors
assigned by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines from 20 May 2021 to
29 May 2021. The 20 finalists will qualify for the ‘People’s Choice Awards’ which will be
determined via online votation through the Delegation of the European Union to the
Philippines’ Facebook page. Additionally, the top three (3) entries that garner the highest
number of points based on the judges’ scores will be declared as major winners.

4. Theme: My Space, My Rights

The theme ‘My Space, My Rights’ aims to empower children and enhance their protection. It will
showcase empowered young Filipinos who espouse the core values of EU of upholding the basic rights
of their fellow youth in the hopes of inspiring more like-minded to do the same.

5. Entry Specifications

a. Basic Requirements

i. Each team shall have three (3) college student members who are currently enrolled
in the school year 2021 – 2022.
ii. Accomplished application form.
iii. Signed endorsement letter from the school.
iv. 60 to 90 second video attachment uploaded on Google Drive (must be visible and
downloadable.)
v. Video material shall be rendered in MP4 or MOV format with a minimum of 1920 x
1080 resolution.
vi. Signed declaration form

6. Rules on Intellectual Property

a. A participant must attest that:

i. The entry is his/her team’s original work, created solely by the team and its
members.
ii. He/she owns the right to the entry, that it does not infringe on the copyrights,
trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property of any
person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the
artwork.

b. If an entry makes it to the Top 20, the group and its members together with their respective
school/university/college will be contacted. The top 20 entries will be announced and
posted on the EUD Facebook page with the proper acknowledgement of each member and
their school.
7. Submission of Entries

a. Each entry must be accompanied by a certification or endorsement letter from the school
signed by its official representative. The group must likewise indicate the following
information required on the application form which must be sent to the secretariat’s official
email address:

• Full name of all the members


• Mobile and telephone numbers of all the group members
• Email addresses of all the group members
• Residential addresses of all the group members
• School and location/address
• School representative’s name, designation (Dean or Department Chair) and their respective
contact details (email and mobile or landline)
• Course and year level of all the group members
• Title of the entry
• How the video material relates to the theme of the competition.

b. Accomplished forms shall be submitted to secretariat@euwhiz.ph using the subject ‘EU


Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture Video Entry’ from 17 March 2021 to 1 May 2021.

8. Judging Panels and Criteria

a. There will be a set of judges for the competition who will score all the qualified
entries. These judges will determine the top 20 entries for the video competition as
well as the top 3 entries that will be declared as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners of
the video competition.

b. The judges will evaluate the qualified entries, based on the following criteria:

9. Process for Selecting the Top 20 Finalists

a. All entries submitted to the competition secretariat will be screened if it complied to the
technical requirements set forth by the Delegation of the European Union to the
Philippines.

b. Qualified entries will then be evaluated by a panel of judges based on the criteria for
judging stated on 8.B.
c. The Top 20 will be determined on the basis of the judges’ aggregate scores per qualified
entry. In case of tied scores within the Top 20 entries, the judges will deliberate and
break the tie based on the judging criteria. Decisions of the judges will be final and
binding.

d. Groups who submitted video materials adjudged to be among the Top 20 will be advised
on 30 May 2021 via SMS and email by the secretariat team that their entries have
qualified for the Finals. They will also be sent official correspondences to attend the
online General Orientation on 5 June 2021 where the full mechanics and activity
schedules will be discussed to them in detail.

e. All Finalists will be invited to the Awarding Ceremony on 26 June 2021, to witness the
announcement of winners. The awarding will be done via Zoom teleconference and will
be streamed on the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines’ official
Facebook page.

10. Online Voting for People’s Choice Award

a. The 20 Finalists of the video competition will be posted on the Delegation of the
European Union to the Philippines’ official Facebook page, from 5 June 2021 to 25 June
2021 for votation.

b. The general public may vote by placing “like” or “heart” reactions on the actual post of
the video entry during the said period on 9.A.

c. There will be one (1) winner for the People’s Choice Award.

i. The votation will end on 25 June 2021. The competition secretariat will count
the number of “like” and “heart” reactions, and will take screen shots of the
total reactions garnered by each entry for documentation.
ii. The entry that garners the most number of “likes” and heart reactions during
the online voting period will be declared People’s Choice.
iii. In case of a tie, the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines will
select the winner, based on the contending entries’ adherence to the judging
criteria. Decisions will be final and binding.

d. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced during the awarding on 26
June 2021.
11. Final Judging

a. The judging of qualified entries will be done from 20 May 2021 to 29 May 2021.
During the said period, the top 20 will be determined as well as the top 3 winners of
the competition based on the judging criteria of the competition.

b. The secretariat will officially attest to the veracity and accuracy of the score and
ranking of each entry, as recorded and tabulated based on the judges’ score sheets
and/or their collective deliberation, as well as the official log of, and final report on,
online votes. Judges will sign off on the winners’ list before it is released for public
announcement.

12. Major Prizes

a. The entry that garners the most points based on the judges’ score sheets will be
declared the First Place Winner. Consequently, the two other entries that garner the
second and third highest scores will be declared the 2nd and 3rd Place winners,
respectively.

c. All prizes will be distributed by the competition secretariat via courier from 1 July 2021
to 30 July 2021 based on the addresses declared by the participating teams on the
application form.
