About Bijwasan:
Bijwasan Vidhan Sabha is located in South-West district of Delhi and comes under South Delhi Lok
Sabha constituency. This constituency covers part of Dhulsiras, Vasant Kunj, Mahipalpur, Rangpuri,
Nangal Dewat, Bijwasan, Samika, Barnaul, Kapashera, Shahbad Mohammadpur, Rajnagar, and
Part of Dwarka.
Located about 5 kilometres west of IGI International Airport. The village is situated on Delhi-Rewari
railway line. The next village is Chawla, which has a large BSF camp. The famous colony "Palam
Vihar" developed by DLF, is on the outskirts of this village. Palam Vihar falls in Gurgaon district of
Haryana. Since most of the agricultural lands of this village have been acquired for Delhi airport's
expansion plans and for other residential colonies, it can now be termed an urbanised village in Delhi
Population and Age Bifurcation:
As per the 2020 population report the total population of Bijwasan is 74223 out of which the male
population is 40903 and female population is 33293. Majority of the population is in the age group
of 20 to 30 both in Male and Female category around 21 percent of population lies between the 20-
29 ages. The sample under this age bracket comes under working class. With the industrial units
near to Bijwasan or at Bijwasan many landless labour are migrating from different state and settling
in this area that’s there has been significant population growth in the working age group category
and also in the infant and adolescent
Literacy Rate:
Literacy in India is a key for socio-economic progress. Census of India pegged average literacy rate to
be 73% in 2011 while National Statistical Commission surveyed literacy to be 77.7% in 2017–18.
Literacy rate in urban areas was higher 87.7% than rural areas with 73.5%.
Delhi has the Literacy rate of 88.7% as per the 2020 data from census India. Which is higher than the
national average.
Bijwasan village which falls under the South-West Delhi covers many constituency and one such
constituency which comes under Bijwasan Assembly is Kapashera which is performing even better
that the overall Delhi literacy rate. Kapashera has an average literacy rate of 90.34%, higher than
state average of 86.21%. Male literacy is around 92.35% while female literacy rate is 82.13%. In
Kapashera, 13.72% of the population is under six years of age. As of 2020, the village is believed to
have a population of more than 50,000 due to frequent migration & industries being near
Kapashera.
Bijwasan which is spread in an area of approximately 20.51 sq. km has nearly 20 dispensary and
hospital combined out of which 2 are the dental clinic, 1 is IVF clinic and remaining are the Hospital
in which few comes under Air Force base.
Also another criteria for judging an area is by the number of school present in that circle. For
Bijwasan there are 4 school which run by Government aid present, 2 are run by the local body and
the rest 14 are the private aided school built in and around Bijwasan.
We find the monitoring station at Bijwasan records the highest range of values and mean for PM10
concentration as compared to other monitoring stations. It may cause breathing discomfort to
people with lung disease such as asthma, and discomfort to people with heart disease, children and

majority of the time the AQI is between poor to moderate.
