The ideal of fairness especially with regards to the punishment of wrong doings.
* Equality/transparency
is the principles of foundation of all the other rights and liberties.
Employment for Good Governance
Majority of the population which is dying of inadequate employment.
MODULE 2: ETHICS
-Comes from the Greek word ethos ---meaning character or a characteristic way of acting.
-is the study of the moral behavior or conduct of man as viewed from ultimate principles are known by human reason.
Business Ethics- is concerned primarily with the relationship between business goals and techniques.
it is also studies the impacts of laws for the benefits of the individual and the company.
2 types of ethics
1. Human act- is one that proceeds from the deliberate free will of man.
2. Act of man- is one that is not dependent upon intellect and free will.
Morality
Comes from the Greek word of moralis- means of customs and manners.
3 Element of Morality
1. the act itself
2. purpose or end
3. circumstances
1. Norms are purely internal – they argue that this the only valid rules.
2. Norm- Based on current opinions and customs- determine the acceptable mode of acting
- Everybody is doing it.
3. The norm of expediency- is objectively right and wrong.
4. The norm of preference-who act by what is desirable what one “prefers” doing rather than what is right and wrong.
5. Situation Ethics- there are no objective standards for human activity.
6. Discussion analysis-ethics or morality is not a matter of current opinions or actions of the majority.
Morality and Etiquettes
Etiquette- refers to any special code of behavior or courtesy.
Bad etiquettes- means to eat with one’s finger during formal dinner.
Good etiquettes- typically calls for follow up letter, returning phone calls and appropriate dress.
-considered to say “ please” and ‘thank you”
bad manners- is black and white to eat together
Ill mannered- to violate the rule and be ruled.
well mannered-who obeyed the convention and certainly had no grounds for feeling moral.
