MODULE 1 LESSON5: RESEARCH IN CHILD AND ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT

ANALYSIS

You can write your own reactions/ insights why you answer Yes and why you answer NO, on the
following statements:

No. Ans. Why....

1. No Research is for everyone. Unconsciously are already using research in our everyday
life.

2. No In reality, research requires students to read, interpret, and analyze new information,
reshape their research question, and start again.
3. Yes Research is not only about giving questionnaires or tallying the results it is also about
understanding a theory or the topic of the research.
4. Yes because the response would be bias.
5. No Teachers are always busy and reading other people’s research is very valuable.
6. No that's why you need to conduct a research to prove that you have something that other
researchers didn't know
7. No Clearly, students who are not old or mentally mature enough to conduct research to
find knowledge, will merely be users of knowledge, arrived at by research.
8. Yes Students don't have the prerequisite knowledge and skills, but think they do
9. No It is worth it when you conduct a research about something you need to consider the
time and money it require because its part of your research.
REFLECTION PAPER (AA2)
The Importance of Research In Child Development
Submitted by: ELLA MARIE N. ALBUTRA Date: September,05,2021
Submitted to: NANCY B. GONZALES, ED.D

The three (3) most significant learning I got from the topic are: (a) Research itself has proven
that teachers have everything to gain and nothing to lose when they get involved in the research
process. Well-informed teachers are able to use and integrate the most authoritative research
findings. (b) learn how to conduct research by finding out the different research principles and the
research methods and designs with focus on child and adolescent development. You should also
study the important principles of research and what are the purpose of research becoming a future
teacher. (c) And the last thing i learned is Research is a very reliable means for teachers to learn
about child and adolescent development.
Those learning is significant to me as a future teacher it helps me to guide how i develop my
self being an educator and teaching technique. This involves decisions related to educational policies,
curriculum, effective teaching-learning processes, and even those involving research, too. It can help
us, teachers, to be more knowledgeable about how to fit our teaching with the developmental levels of
our learners. Research enables teachers to come up with informed decision on what to teach and
how to teach so it can help us to progress ourselves in teaching. When conducted in an appropriate
and accurate manner, it becomes a strong basis for making decisions about the things you will do as
an effective teacher. it is important that you know various research designs and different data-
gathering techniques used by developmental researchers. These ideas help us on how to conduct our
research in correct pattern to conclude a good research as will.
In my own experience on conducting a research when i was in senior high school it takes a
long process and gaining a lot of time. At first you should decide what kind of research you conduct
and afterwards the title or the topic of a research. After that we make a research questions that
appropriate and suitable to our respondent during the interview , you should need to take down or
record all the detailed data of the respondent. Conducting a research a big deal to me to gathered it is
because you need to come-up the result of your research. But at the end it make me realize that
through research you can solve the problem, you can improve your skills in decision making and some
more that can progress to yourself even in a different way. The conduct of research does not only
belong to thesis and dissertation writers.
(Academic Paper, LE2)

I find myself intrigued with the amount of knowledge I gained during this course this semester. I
wanted to take the time to concentrate on three specific areas in which I felt I had the most growth, but
also came as a challenge to me as well. It is important when reflecting over a course that I look at
what I found to be challenging, as this was an opportunity of growth for me individually. In this paper I
will review some of the main topics that I found to be interesting but also resourceful for my future
aspiration not only as a family life educator but also a mother one day. In Module 1 in The Child and
Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles it consist at least five Lesson the topic are the following:
Learner- Centered Psychological Principal, Human Development, Meaning, Concepts and
Approaches, The Stages of Development and Developmental Task, Issues of Human Development,
lastly the Research in Child and Adolescent Development. That’s all the topic we encountered in this
module. You should learn about the significant learning that we have to apply and to improve. Each of
it is one of the best things to do as a future teacher; you need to know first how we can catch their
attentions, knowing each other’s. And also to classify the different stages levels of the children, the
way they think and their actions.
This class has taught me a great deal about socio-emotional and cognitive development from
infancy to adolescence. The theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, Bandura, and Erickson, to name a few, have
helped me understand the different characteristics of development which will be very helpful when I
become a Teacher. Having the knowledge to recognize these stages now will be very helpful in my
own classroom one day. If I have an adolescent student who cannot solve abstract problems, and has
not become more scientific in their thinking, I will be able to determine that they are not where they
should be cognitively for their age. Although Piaget’s four stages are very helpful, I learned while
working on our group case study that one of the limitations to Piaget’s theories is that he does not
consider cultural contexts. Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory does. I have learned that keeping both
theories in mind will be the most accurate way to observe issues with children in my class. I had
mentioned that I thought that the environment in which a child develops is the most important factor
contributing to their overall development. I was right that “nurture” is a huge aspect in childhood
development but so is “nature”. I have learned that the two are complex co actions and both contribute
to the way in which a child turns out.
Overall, looking back to the very first day of class, I have learned a great deal. I have the
foundation now to determine whether or not a child within my class is in the proper developmental
stage for their age category.  The class has also taught me to take into consideration that every child
comes from a different environment and biological makeup and therefore each child will differ
developmentally.   I will refer back to Piaget’s and Vygotsky’s theories in particular, to try to relate with
these students and possibly make accommodations for their learning in my classroom. If their case is
severe, I will recognize the need to have their cognitive and socio-emotional development diagnosed
so they can receive the proper education for their circumstance. Furthermore, this course has served
to be one of the most useful for me, and I am thankful for the knowledge that I take away from it.
