STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Nowadays, information technology is omnipresent and ruling the world. In order to be a successful
person, one should know how to implement their learning in this field. I have always been a keen
learner throughout my life and I believe in implementing my learning in real life, and with this
principle I feel that information technology is the field where I belong. Thus, I started my career
in IT and later on I found out that I have a strong proclivity towards data analytic and mining,
making me narrow down to select my post-graduation area of study. I have decided with best
thought of doing my further education in data analysis from a reputed institution which would give
me not only higher education but also a new style of learning with international standards,
innovative methods of self-development skills and the ability of survival among the fittest. This
has led me to decide to enroll myself in this program.

The primary reason to be a part of Illinois Institute of Technology is, I believe that graduate study
from a well renowned and reputed University like yours will help a person like me to gain in-depth
knowledge in the field of my interest. Secondly, studying under a system where hands-on-skills
are focused in addition to the traditional academic teachings and a lot of experiential learning
opportunities are given to students will be the most effective method for a student like me to
transform into a better person who can be a leader in this upcoming competitive corporate world.
Last but not the least with University’s comprehensive facilities and experts, will be an ideal place
for me to pursue my graduate studies.

During my undergraduate study, I gained my initial formal exposure to Information Technology

through courses like Computer Programming Utilization (C programming), Physics, Calculus,
Vector calculus, Advance engineering mathematics, Data Structure, Database management
systems, Object oriented programming with C++, Numerical and statistical methods for computer
engineering, Analysis and Design of algorithms, Object oriented programming using Java,
Advanced Java, Web technology, Software engineering and a few more courses which I will study
in my last semester.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

In 2014, I have completed my secondary education in CBSE Board, from Agrawal Vidya Vihar
School where I scored 9.8 CGPA on a 10 pointer scale. In the year 2016, I completed my higher
secondary education in CBSE Board, wherein I got 89%. Post my higher secondary education I
am about to complete my bachelors of engineering (information technology) from A. D. Patel
Institute of Technology, New VallabhVidyanagar in the year 2020. Uptill 6th semester my CGPA
is 8.85 on a 10 pointer scale
EXTRA CURRICULUM:

Along with my academics, I have been actively engaged in extra-curricular activities in order to
achieve an all-round personality development. In grade 8 I won second prize inn poem recitation,
and in 9th grade I won silver medal in the relay race competition. I have been an active member
throughout the 4 years of my bachelors in Entrepreneurship cell and I have participated as a
volunteer in many events organized by my college. Apart from all these activities, in pursuit of
gaining practical knowledge I did an internship as a UI/UX designer in IT department of Master
touch concepts. I had also done several projects during my bachelor’s and one of those was Store
Management System which was developed using Advanced Java and Bootstrap. My college
organizes a State level Tech-Fest every year and in 2018, I volunteered an event in the fest which
was about a treasure hunt based on the participant’s aptitude skills. In addition to all of these, I
have been actively participated in the events related to coding as I am quite inclined towards the
problem solving tasks.

It is a bitter truth that in my home country the courses are theoretical and are limited to indigenous
markets and conditions; to evolve in this competitive world the current level of knowledge is not
satisfactory. Hence, to fill up this gap of the hands-on experience that facilitates implication of
theory, I perceive to study in the United States of America with M.S in Data Science course in
Illinois Institute of Technology. I had referred the course catalogue thoroughly and the main reason
of choosing this course is that during my bachelor’s, I was always propelled towards Data Science,
Analytics and Mining; however, this course also contains familiar subjects and hence I would be
able to give my best in future during my master’s. Moreover, the bachelor’s course which I studied
is limited to certain geographical markets and conditions. Thus, studying this course is not to add
a feather to my cap but is most essential for my further as well as to achieve my goal.

I have examined the course catalogue of the university and found it to be very satisfying. I strongly
believe that the United States has a well-rounded education system which will help me to upgrade
my knowledge and skills. In addition, the US has programmatic approach to education which I
accept that is the most valuable prerequisite for a good education system.

The education at Illinois Institute of Technology will be the logical extension of my academic
pursuits and a major step towards achieving my goals. I would be obliged if you can provide me
with this opportunity. If given the opportunity to join your Data Science program, I will be able to
utilize my extensive background in computers, while learning additional skills and techniques that
will be greatly beneficial to my future career development. I hope to use my skills and background
to learn how to effectively analyze and solve business problems.
