PART 4: REFLECT

1.What was your overall impression of the museum?

Majestic, traditional, and well-arranged; this will be how I would describe my overall impression
of the museum. Majestic because almost all the artworks in the Tokyo National Museum are from ages
ago, they are well done and it can be seen how majestic each one is, therefore turning the museum
itself into a majestic place. Traditional because as stated almost all the artworks are from the past, it is
very much traditional especially all the clay and ceramic artworks. Lastly, well-arranged because as I was
trying to make my way through the virtual museum tour, it was not difficult at all, there is a lot of free
space, it was very wide and arranged.

2. What was your favorite part?

My favorite part would be the hallway filled with Katanas, Japanese swords. I’ve always been a
fan of Katanas since I watch a lot of anime films and series, when I virtually entered the hallways with
Katanas, I got excited and zoomed as much as possible to get a good look at the swords.

3. What was your favorite artwork or one that drew you to it?

This would be the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave Off the Coast of Kanagawa
which is painted by Hokusai during the Edo Period, 19th Century. I was drawn by this drawing simply
because of how well-drawn it was. Maybe I am also someone who is an avid fan of drawings that
involves water and this one specifically had huge waves in them, it stirs something within me, which was
probably why I became drawn to it, making it my favorite artwork in the museum.

4. What did you discover?

I came to find out that this museum, Tokyo National Museum, is actually the oldest as well as
the largest museum in the whole of Japan. Not only does it have some of the best artworks, but it also
has a lot of old and important archeological artifacts which is being protected until today. This museum
will bring you back to the past due to all the artworks it has which dates back to the oldest of Japanese
times.

5.Reflect and write a paragraph about your experience today?

Indeed, today’s experience is one of a kind. I have never tried doing a virtual museum tour before.
Of course, the experience is very different compared to visiting a real-life museum because the awe
one will feel is very different but having a virtual tour is great as well. One does not have to walk
which means that one will not become tired at all and it also does not require any payment because
when one visits museums normally there is a fee. Of course, I would still prefer going to a museum
physically in order to better see the art but overall, I had a lot of fun doing the virtual museum tour.
It is very different, and it is a unique experience.
