Statement of Purpose

Student name: Anita Igbinosun

Programme of Interest: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
My desire to get an additional MBA degree coupled with my just concluded Master
programme in Management and Finance from Birmingham City University stems from the
rapidly developing markets of my native country in Nigeria, to the rolling hills of England and
back again. Now, I feel that the next logical destination on my path is your MBA program.
The curriculum of your MBA program is similar to that which I studied previously, yet it is
much more challenging and will allow me to develop my abilities further. I already have a
strong background in various aspects of business, from marketing and management to
accounting and sales. Because of this, I feel I am uniquely qualified to attend your MBA
program.

Having spent over four years in the financial service sector of Nigeria, the experience has
made me wiser to the opportunities and necessities and I more aware of how technology is
changing that path. The pictures, information available on the internet all helped in
convincing and I knew I wanted to bring Technology to every small village in my country. In
order to achieve all these, I needed much more than just my technical skills. I need to add to
my analytical mind the thought process of a strategist, to the resolutions of an engineer the
planning of a manager and I knew an MBA was the best way forward.

For my studentship at Birmingham City University, where I am rounding up an MSc degree

in Management and Finance programme, I have had the cause to analyse leading
companies like Pepsi-Co, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Tesco Plc, John Lewis and Partners and
Aldi.
By studying at Coventry, I expect to be equipped to in-demand skills in the industry and learn
how to formulate and implement strategies that will make my prospective employer improve
its operational efficiencies, revenue, profitability and ultimately stay ahead of the competition.
With the existence of a faculty with industry experience, well-designed courses, academic
resource, and databases. I expect to graduate with hands-on knowledge of management in
the ever-changing global business landscape.

I am willing and ready to give my utmost best to achieve proven excellence throughout my
study at the University. I hope the admission team will find my background, strength,
capabilities, desire and ambition commensurate with the requirements of the programme
and take a favourable decision regarding my application for the MBA.
I look forward to joining the University community soonest.
