DORON PVC WATERSTOP

(Water Sealer on Concrete Joints)

Facts: Concrete expands and contracts thus, the provisions of expansion

joints is necessary, but water seepage may occur in the joints.

DORON PVC WATERSTOP (a high grade Polyvinyl Chloride resin

and plasticizing agents) provides the excellent water sealing of the
expansion joints, which also expands and contracts according to the
expansion and construction of the concrete.

APPLICATION: It prevents seeping through of liquids in dams, reservoirs,

canals, aqueducts, underpasses, basement, roof decks, swimming
pools, tanks, cellars and other watertight structures.

ADVANTAGES: Easy to install and can be welded, non-corrosive and chemical resistant, flexible and
weather resistant.

SPECIFICATION:

1. Corrugated Fin Type w/ Centerbulb: With a lengthwise protuberances which make its
adherence to concrete.

2. Flat Dumbbell Type: Which relatively little hydraulic pressure or subsidence. Suitable mainly
for such expansion joints as in walls, watercourses and basements.

3. Flat Dumbbell Type w/ Centerbulb: The bulb is designed to stand loading or expansion and
contraction of concrete in an uneven subsidence such as elevated railroads and culverts. It
absorbs outside pressure and vibration and stops water permeation.

PROCEDURE IN SLAB JOINTS INSTALLATION: DORON PVC WATERSTOP is

supported in specially prepared split stop-end form work which holds the waterstop in the
horizontal plane so that half of its width will be cast into the concrete approximately half-way
through the thickness of the slab.

Ensure that the waterstop is retained in the horizontal plane and that adequate compaction of
concrete takes place below the web of the waterstop so as to avoid “honeycombing.” After
stripping the form work supporting the waterstop, the second half of the waterstop can be cast into
the adjoining slab, with similar precautions being taken in regard to “honeycombing” of the
concrete.

PROCEDURE IN VERTICAL JOINT INSTALLATION: The waterstop must be

supported in split stop-end form work in a similar manner as described for slab joints with great
care taken to ensure that the waterstop does not fold over under the weight of poured concrete.

JOINTING AT JOBSITE: The process of the heat fusion or welding is used to provide
butt joints between lengths of DORON PVC WATERSTOP or between lengths of waterstop and
performed junction pieces. A special portable jig is provided for this purpose and is used in
conjunction with heated blade. The ends of the waterstop having been cut square, the jig is used to
line up the two ends of the waterstop in precise opposition. The heated blade is then inserted
between two ends and the material is melted on contact. The blade is then removed and the two
ends of the waterstop pushed together in the jig where they achieve fusion.

EXPANSION JOINTS: The centerbulb sections of DORON PVC WATERSTOPS are

specially designed for use in joints which are either to take movement in expansion and contraction
or to absorb a limited degree of deflection.
