1. PURPOSE
1.1 This method statement shall provide MET of minimum guideline
to carry out loading/Unloading of SS/Material using Overhead
Crane (estimated load less than one ton per bundle of pipe) for Shuqaiq
3 Independent Water Project, to ensure that the work is carried
out safely and properly.
2. SCOPE
2.1 This method statement covers the following method and
procedures but not limited to:
2.1.1 Delivery/Transportation of SS PIPE and Material to Loading in
RO Building

5. MANPOWER

5.1 Project Manager / Construction Manager shall be responsible for

the implementation of this method statement.
5.2 Mechanical Superintendent/Supervisor shall be responsible for
the supervision and implementation at site. Manpower under him
will consist but not limited to the following:

5.2.1 Foreman/Supervisor (Mechanical)

5.2.2 Overhead Crane Operator (Rigger 1)
5.2.3 Rigger

 Safety Supervisor/Engineer will be responsible at site

implementation regarding control and safety of the workers.
Responsible for all safety matters and to ensure that
Safety meetings are being carried out, as well as full
compliance to project HSE program and regulations.

6. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Tools and equipment shall be made available to support

continuous work. Defective tools shall be return to toolroom to

but not limited to the following.

6.2 Procedure

6.2.1 • In general, Vendor’s/Manufacturer’s recommendation for

equipment preservation shall be followed (Material and
Equipment Protection Program).
 Proper area shall be provided at warehouse/site/lay down
yard until equipment erection.
 Storage requirement shall be in accordance with project
specification.
 When the equipment/Material arrived at site, shop
protection and storage shall be checked.
 All Internal/External protection requirements shall be as per
 Vendor’s/Manufacturer’s recommendation.
 The equipment/metrial shall be stored indoor or outdoor
with good manners
 After preparation storage area , Material will be unload by
following these steps:
1. Reverse the vehicle (trailer truck)to the specific position in
RO Under the overhead crane.
2. Get ready the material (loaded on trailer) for lifting.
3. Adjust the spread beam with overhead crane and position it
properly.
4. Lower the hook near to the Material .
5. Hook up load with crane by using spread bar, sling and
shackles.
6. Lift the load by Crane operator slowly by coordinating with
rigger for direction and signals. All these material will
be inspected by HSE department as per HSE Standard and
Specification.
7. Move the to required specific position and unload the
Material. Tag Line will be use for proper direction and
positioning of load.
8. Material shall not be stored directly on Ground, as per HSE
and Quality Standard the wooden bar will be placed under the
material for safe and secure storage .
9. Area will be properly barricaded after storage and warning
signs will displayed for informational purpose.

7. SAFE PRECAUTIONS

7.1 Approved work permit shall be obtained prior to start of

any installation works.

7.2 Fire Watcher with Fire Extinguisher shall be at work area

whenever there is hot work.

7.3 Work execution shall be carried out in accordance with the

latest approved method statement and project
specification.
7.4
Continuous monitoring and inspection shall be
implemented to detect and correct unsafe practices while
performing the work activities.
7.5
Provide warning sign and sufficient barricade on working area
and only assigned personnel will be allowed in the area.

7.6 Safety identification and color coding of piping and

equipment should be properly assigned to ensure proper
segregation and distribution to its intended usage.
7.7 Workers should wear their PPE’s needed for the job. Full body
harness shall be worn at all times when working at elevated
platforms above 1.8 meters.
7.8
All rigging equipment shall be in good condition and
possess a valid certification from authorized certifying and
inspection departments.
7.9
Only licensed and certified operator shall be allowed to
handle and operate or drive. Only certified riggers shall assist
the overhead crane operators.
7.10
Field Supervisor shall monitor the work activities to help and
to protect all assigned workers against exposure to safety
hazards. He shall ensure that Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE’s) are supplied and used and comply with Acciona Agua
7.11 applicable standards.

Housekeeping shall be maintained and working area shall be

kept in a clean and tidy manner.

7.12 HSE Risk Assessment of this method statement shall be

submitted, inseminated and explained to workers for
safety awareness.
