COURSE DESCRIPTION

 This module was designed for Grade 11 students under academic track. This will be
a great help for students to access their lessons at the comfort of their home. In this
lesson, the students will help them understand and learn more about the process of
communication.
 The scope of this module definitely allows the students to enhance their
communication skills by simply identifying what roles are involved in the
communication process and how exactly each role function to make communication
work effectively.
 In this lesson, students will be able to distinguish different types of communication
used in various situations. Communication is used every day in nearly every
environment, including the community. Communication is absolutely necessary
when building relationships, sharing ideas, delegating responsibilities, managing a
team and much more.
 The lessons are organized to follow the standard structure of the Most Essential
Learning Competencies (MELCs). The sequence of the lesson given will help the
students improve and develop their communication and listening skills to become an
effective communicator.

Lesson 1:
EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF
READING AND WRITING
Objectives:

1. To emphasize the importance of reading and writing in day to day life;


2. To determine the literary witnesses and find ways to improve them; and
3. To understand the significance of increasing the number of materials they read.

Introduction

Reading and writing are important skills you need to develop. You need these skills to become
more productive and learning all subjects. Proficiency in reading enables you to acquire market
of ideas, thoughts and feelings and printed forms.
Reading enhances a variety of ideas among the learners and writing expresses what the
authors who want to share the others. Hence, these two skills go hand in hand.
Francis bacon once said, "Reading makes a full man." It is indeed true that an individual who is
enthusiastic in learning more must feel himself up with information and ideas from printed
materials. Fulfillment of these skills can be achieved when a learner fills ready to share his
thoughts and ideas in written form. On the other hand, the saying "writers are not born, they are
made" explains that any learner can become a writer provided that he undergoes constant
practice.
In this present time, you must follow exceptional skills and have a creative mind to be able to
compete with your other counterparts. Mastery of language, which involves reading and writing,
is the key to global competitiveness. These kills play significant roles in your life because they
help you to be well equipped in any undertaking in the changing times.

Getting some information about your reading and writing abilities is big factor to consider when
assessing your language skills. To assess your reading writing skills, do the following activity.

The importance of reading and writing


Maybe not consider the complexity and difficulty of the writing process. In comparison
with other academic live it is this is one that perhaps requires more skills than the others. For
instance, you have to proficient in the language and to understand the basic rules of grammar.
For another, you need to have wide vocabulary and a good imagination in order to churn at
extraordinary text that is different from that of your peers.
Yet, aside from crafting literary masterpieces, mastering writing is essential as it is the
primary basis upon which your intellect, work, I’m learning our judged, regardless of whether it is
in school, your workplace, or the community. Further allows you to express yourself, serves as
an extension of your personality, the house put your thoughts in the physical form. It also helps
others the give you feedback on what you are doing, as well as helps you effectively craft up
your arguments.
All this and more are among the benefits of being proficient in writing. However, another
benefit of being proficient and the skills is that you are able to accurately discern facts, opinions,
and inferences without getting confused, thereby giving you an edge over your peers. If you can
write without confusing your reader, then it means you're able to put yourself in a position
wherein you can talk about complex situations while making them relatable to your audience.
Hence, senior high school students can have a great time to north or this love of writing
based on information from any reading material. Literacy is far more than the ability to sound out
few words of one syllable. It is focuses not only on organizing basic words but also on the
understanding of the world around us. This means that being literate helps determine a person's
survival in society by helping him understand, solve, and learn from problems through reading,
in which the end process is reflected into writing.
Therefore, a person's ability to read and write goes hand in hand with problem solving. Once an
individual is able to hone and master these literacy skills, then he is already on way to becoming
a better reader and writer.
