Where The Forest Meets the Sea

Adapted by Wairoa School

I go to a special place called a forest with my father on our boat.
Through the reef, we can hear Cockatoos
squawking.
I follow the creek into the rain forest where there used to be crocodiles and kangaroos.
In the rain forest the vines and creepers are thick and it's hard to walk through but I
break through.

It's very still and quiet here and I watch and listen.
There are very old trees here and I wonder how many kids have played games here.
It is time to go find my father, he has gone fishing and is cooking a fish. I look forward to
the day we can come back here. I hope the forest is still here the same when we return.
This story is set the Daintree Rainforest in North Queensland.
