Module 1 Activities for Participation

Let’s Try This (Act 1.1)

1. What do you think is the role of philosophy to education?

From where I stand, philosophy’s role in education is firmly rooted from its
history. Without philosophy’s existence and contribution, education would have
never been born. Philosophy is education’s base, the very structure how
education must be promulgated in the world. It must be stimulative,
comprehensive, and profound in its theories. Hence, philosophy’s role to
education is to remind itself of its mission, to teach and to develop knowledge
within the people.

2. Is theory an important aspect to practice? Explain your answer.

I would say that theory has a vital role when it comes to practice. Without
theoretical teachings, the application would be rendered dull and people around
the globe would be confused on the essence of the application. For the practices
of education to be understood, we have to instill into the academe the very
essence why such applications be implemented and this could only be done
through the inclusion of theories in its teachings.

3. What can you say about the Philippine Education Curriculum?

The great shift in the educational curriculum, throughout my experience,

has been very vital in my years of study. It indulged me into various concepts and
theories that brought me further understanding of the world, to which philosophy
has contributed massively throughout my reflections. Hence, I would say that the
K-12 Curriculum has brought significant value in my life for its lifelong teachings
and creative methods of education.
