EXPERIMENT-4
1. AIM OF THE EXPERIMENT: Implementation of Half wave rectifier and Full wave
bridge rectifier and analysis of its output voltage signal.
2. EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED: components and equipments required for this experiment
are:
1. Diodes (4 nos)
2. Load resistor(1K)
3. Universal Trainer kit/Breadboard
4. CRO & CRO probe
5. Connecting wires
6. Tinkercad software platform
3. CIRCUIT DIAGRAM: Circuit diagrams, Input & output waveform of different
rectifiers is shown below:

4. THEORY: The basic theory needed to understand this experiment is given below.
Rectifier- A rectifier is an electronic device that converts alternating current into direct
current.
Full wave rectifier uses two diodes for rectification of AC input. One diode is forward
biased in positive half cycle while second one is forward biased in negative half cycle. The
current flows in same direction through RL in both cycles. Hence rectification of both half
cycles taken place and a pulsating DC output is obtained. It is continuous and is obtained
across RL.
The rectified output is actually pulsating DC i.e. AC is pulsating over DC in order to get
the pure DC. The rectified output is to be passed through filter circuit.

5. PROCEDURE:

The procedure to design and analyze the circuit in hardware is given below:

1. Connect the circuit according to the circuit diagram.


2. To observe the input and output voltage signal connect CRO CH-I across the AC signal to
observe the input voltage signal and CRO CH-II across Load resistor to observe the
output voltage signal.
The procedure to design and analyze the circuit in Tinkercad is given below:
HALF WAVE RECTIFIER:
1. According to the circuit diagram click and drag the required components from the
components library to the working platform. (Breadboard, diode (2nos), resistor1k,
oscilloscope (2NOS), Function Generator).

2. Connect the circuit according to the circuit diagram and click start simulation to get
result.
FULL WAVE RECTIFIER:
1. According to the circuit diagram click and drag the required components from the
components library to the working platform.(breadboard, diode(4nos),resistor1k,
oscilloscope(2NOS),Function Generator).
2. Connect the circuit according to the circuit diagram and click start simulation to get
result.

7. CONCLUSION: After this experiment we learnt about the implementation of the half
wave rectifier and full wave bridge rectifier and analysis of it’s output voltage signal.
