Method: Hexokinase Serum RBS

AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DIAGNOSIS OF DIABETES MELLITUS

1. A Fasting Plasma Glucose of ≥ 126mg/dl(after no caloric intake for atleast 8 hours) or


2. A casual Plasma Glucose ≥ 200 mg/dl (taken at any time of day without regard to time of last meal) with
classic diabetes symptoms ofincreased urination, increased thirst and unexplained weight loss.
3. An Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) 75gm dose of ≥ 200 mg/dlfor two hours sample. Oral Glucose
Tolerance Test is not necessary if patients has a Fasting Plasma Glucose of ≥ 126mg/dl.
The committee states that the fasting Plasma Glucose is the preffered and recommends moving towards its
universal use for testing and diagnosing.
