Introduction

Regional Gardens (RG) is seeking ideas on how to improve their data center and make the switch to the
cloud. The Managing Director (MD) is still unsure if this is the best option for his company since he
believes it is "not really big enough to be thinking about migrating to the Cloud" and that any monies
should be spent on landscaping and product development rather than ICT. As a result of recent
enhancements to their demonstration garden, the company has added a number of new product lines
to its nursery store. The Sales Manager is afraid that the present order system would be unable to
handle the considerable increase in orders expected as a result of the enhancements.

Task 1

Cloud computing, in a nutshell, is a new computer model in which data storage, software applications,
and other resources are made available via the Internet. The formal definition of cloud the National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) established computing, which is as follows:

According to Wikipedia, cloud computing is a model for providing convenient, on-demand network
access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage,
applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management
effort or service-provider interaction. Here the advantages of cloud computing is mentioned below:

1. Cost Savings
One of the most significant advantages of Cloud Computing is the cost reductions. It helps you
to save a lot of money because it doesn't require any physical hardware. Furthermore, hardware
maintenance does not necessitate the use of trained employees. The cloud service provider
handles equipment acquisition and management.
2. Strategic Edge
You'll have an advantage over your competitors if you use cloud computing. One of the most
appealing aspects of Cloud services is the ability to obtain the most recent versions of programs
at any time without having to invest time or money in their installation.
3. High speed
With cloud computing, you can instantly deploy your service with fewer clicks. With this
speedier deployment, you may receive the resources you need for your system in less time.
4. Back-up and restore data
Once data is saved on the Cloud, backing it up and restoring it, which is a time-consuming
process on premise, is much easier.
5. Automatic Software Integration
Software integration is something that happens automatically on the cloud. As a result, you
won't have to spend any extra time customizing and integrating your apps to your preference.
6. Reliability
The stability of Cloud hosting is one of the most crucial benefits. Any modifications will always
be communicated to you.
7. Mobility
All of the company's services are easily accessible to employees working on-site or in remote
locations. All they need is an Internet connection.
8. Unlimited Storage Capacity
Virtually limitless storage is available on the cloud. You may easily enhance your storage
capacity at any time thanks to the inexpensive monthly pricing.
9. Collaboration
Employees in different countries can collaborate more simply and safely thanks to the cloud-
computing platform.
10. Quick Deployment
Finally, cloud computing allows for quick application deployment. As a result, if you choose to
use the cloud, your entire system will be up and running in minutes. However, the amount of
time required is dictated by the technology in use at your company.

Other benefits of moving the web services and SharePoint parts of the RG ICT infrastructure to the Cloud
are:

 Self-service on demand
 Multi-tenancy
 Provides Resilient Computing Services
 Virtualization that is both quick and effective
 Will provide you with low-cost software.
 Provides superior internet safety.
 Independence of location and device
 Always accessible, and scales up or down automatically as demand rises.
 Allows for a pay-per-use model.
 Control and interfaces via the internet
 API access is currently available.

The above the advantages of cloud computing. Now the disadvantage of the cloud computing are as
follows:

1. Performance Can Vary

Your application runs on a server that also functions as a resource provider for other businesses
when you work in a cloud environment. Any self-centered behavior on the part of your tenant,
or a DDOS attack, could affect the operation of your shared resource.
2. Technical issues
Outages and other technical issues are common in cloud computing. Despite maintaining great
maintenance standards, even the top cloud service providing companies may encounter issues.
3. Security threat in the cloud
Another disadvantage of cloud computing is the risk of security breaches. You should be aware
that if you use cloud computing, you will be sharing all of your sensitive company data with a
third-party cloud computing service provider. Hackers could access this information.
4. Downtime
It's also vital to account for downtime while using cloud computing. This is because, among
other things, your cloud provider may have power outages, poor internet access, and service
maintenance.
5. Internet Connectivity
Reliable Internet access is critical in cloud computing. If you don't have internet access, you can't
use the cloud. In addition, there are no alternative options for collecting data from the cloud.
6. Lower Bandwidth
Clients of many cloud storage service providers are subject to bandwidth constraints. As a result,
if your organization exceeds its budget, the extra costs could be significant.
7. Lacks of Support
Companies that supply cloud computing services do not provide proper customer support. They
also encourage non-technical customers to use FAQs or online support, which can be time
consuming.
