WALKING THROUGH THE MEMORIES

-1
I looked out the window, the sky was tar-black and the large clouds were moving towards

SB
me. I heard a tapping on the window and then it became a pitter-patter. The day had

EI
been beautiful and the sky was like a dome of plasma-blue. As I sipped my hot coffee

n-
the whole event of my unforgettable expedition to Kothaligarh fort that I had gone with
mi
three of my other friends, from the start to end, flashed in my mind. I remembered. It
nja
was my first ever experience of a trek and I was very excited to accompany my friends
Be

on the exciting adventure. After requesting my parents several times to let me go, they
finally agreed and with mere happiness, I informed my friends. My friend’s uncle who
er

was accustomed to go on treks was going to accompany us and gave us the guidelines
iv
Ol

as well as a well-defined schedule of the entire day; from catching the train to staring us
-

ascend towards the summit, all planning was done by him.

.in

After waiting for too long, finally the day had arrived. Usually on holidays I don’t wake
.ac

up early but the excitement made me do so that day. Quickly I packed my bag and
eis

waited for the time to assemble near the railway station. Finally, after a long waiting,
in@

the clock struck 12 and it was time to leave for the exciting journey. We were advised to
carry a sleeping mat and it was a very difficult task to lift the bag which was quite heavy
jam

but the excitement for the trip made us more energetic. We quickly headed towards the
railway station, took the tickets and were eagerly waiting at the platform. I had never
en

felt so happy and joyful before a train journey. I usually didn’t prefer travelling by trains
r.b

due to the large crowd present there. I avoided the coaches filled with people where
ve

finding a seat was a very big task and sometimes there would barely be any chance to
oli

stand comfortably. But we have to adjust if we want something very eagerly and so
-
re

keeping all problems and tantrums aside, I happily went in the train and as it was the
alo

first station, we got a seat for all of us.

g

This train journey from Bandra to CSMT was a very easy task as compared to travelling
an

in a Karjat train which was filled with a mob of people. At the CSMT station, we were
lB

freaked out at the sight of a large crowd of people waiting for the train but fortunately
oo

my friend’s uncle joined us there and he assured that he would make the journey
ch

exciting. After asking people to shift to other seats, we finally got an opportunity to sit
lS

together for the entire journey. And as his uncle had said, it was indeed an enjoyable
na

journey. We played cards, ate snacks and what not. Time passed as fast as lightning
tio

and we finally reached Neral which was the site of trekking. Quickly we grabbed some
a

tea and snacks for ourselves and took a taxi to Kothaligarh hill. Even that small road
rn
nte

trip was amazing. The sight of the sunset was mesmerizing.

It was dark and we had reached the point from which we were about to start ascending.
rI

It was pitch black and we started our climb. The clear sky, twinkling stars all attracted

our vision as we were only used to the polluted air of our city and the sound of traffic.

4
It was a best experience ascending the mountain in the company of nature. The full

5.1
moon was giving considerably high amount of light and so we kept aside our torches.

.18
It was after around two hours of climbing that we finally reached the fort. And then in

36
search of a flat land for sleeping, we finally found a piece of land suitable for our needs.

-1
There we finally kept aside our bags removed our shoes and relaxed. We had decided
to make sandwiches at the summit and so we had brought all the ingredients. Then i

M
0A
ate our dinner which were the sandwiches, did a small bonfire and spent some time
with nature and friends which was the most exciting part of the entire trip. I was unable

4:2
to capture those moments but I don’t regret as it is rightly said that IF YOU WERE NOT

0:3
ABLE TO CAPTURE THE MOMENTS, THEN YOU SURELY ENJOYED THE MOMENTS.

01
Then we headed to sleep in the cold and windy weather. The mats which we carried
tediously seemed very beneficial for us and it made our sleep more peaceful. Early

02
morning, I was awakened by the chirping of the birds which I think is a dream of every

4/2
travel lover. All of my friends were asleep so I started walking a bit further only to find

2/1
a beautiful and mesmerizing view on all four sides. It was like we had entered a mini

-1
paradise on earth as it is rightly said that “THE BEST VIEW COMES AFTER THE
HARDEST CLIMB”. Then it was time for us to descend down the slope before the sun

SB
came overhead as it would be difficult if the sun had come overhead. We quickly started

EI
our descend and while doing so we were surprised of how had we climbed such a

n-
difficult trail. I am sure some of us would hesitate in climbing if we started ascending
mi
in daylight as at night, it was pitch black and we were not clearly able to see the path
nja
which we followed.
Be

It was definitely a wise decision to descend as much as possible before afternoon as it

was only a small distance between us and the place where the taxi driver was waiting
er
iv

for us but I can surely say that those were the most tedious part of the whole journey.
Ol

We kept walking and walking in the unbearable heat of the sun when we finally reached
-

to the taxi. We were sitting in the taxi heading towards the station but my friend’s uncle
.in

told that he had a surprise for us and instead of the station, we headed somewhere else.
.ac

It was a lake and we were said to swim in the lake. What else could be a better solution
eis

to beat the heat!!

in@

This was where our trek had officially ended but there was a more thrilling adventure
left; The train journey!! After such a tiring trek, a train journey was like adding kerosene
jam

to fire. The crowded train was on the verge of becoming our worst nightmare. We were
en

to get down at Ghatkopar station but looking at the crowd, it seemed like a tough mission
r.b

to get down. But with God’s grace, we were able to get down as many people had to get
down there and so it became easy for us.
ve

People were making way for themselves and indirectly for us as well. After getting down,
oli

we were to travel in the metro which was like a piece of cake after travelling in the
-
re

previous train.
alo

After a long train journey, we finally reached Bandra.

g

We thanked our friend’s uncle to support us in the entire trip and bid each other farewell
an

and went home. Immediately after going home I fell asleep as I was very tired. My first
lB

experience of a trek was very exciting and joyful. The moonlit trails and the mesmerizing
oo

views were one of a kind and it is my dream to go on more treks in the future….
