U.S. National Park:

T he words “For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People” stretch across the
northern entrance of our nation’s first national park, Yellowstone.
According to the Department of Interior, the goal of the National Park Service
is, and has always been, to keep our wild places protected and unimpaired for
future generations. To that end, more than 400 areas and 84 million acres span-
ning all 50 states and several unincorporated territories of the United States, pro-
tect America’s greatest natural treasures. With 61 of those wilderness areas toting
National Park designation, it can be tricky trying to pick which park to visit.
So, to help you determine which parks should be higher on your bucket list,
we ranked each park based on their overall accessibility, facilities and accom-
modations, trails and attractions, crowds, and, of course, overall ‘wow’ factor,
which we measured by photo ops and stunning scenery.
Keep in mind, it’s almost impossible to say that one is better than the next —
there’s truly something special about each one of our national parks.

Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks

CALIFORNIA
Everyone loves a two-for-one, especially when it comes to national parks.
As Yosemite’s southern neighbors, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks
are often overlooked. But as the famed naturalist John Muir once penned,
“…southward of the famous Yosemite Valley, there is a grander valley of the
same kind.” And we have to agree.
Aside from being home to the world’s largest tree (by volume) and protect-
ing vast areas of towering inland redwoods, a big part of Sequoia’s appeal is
that it isn’t all that crowded. Take a stroll under the big trees in the Giant For-
est, view wildlife in Crescent Meadows, climb to the top of Moro Rock, or, if
you’re feeling extra-ambitious, break away from the crowds and hike the 60-
mile High Sierra Trail to the top of the highest peak in the lower 48 - Mount
Whitney.
Despite being two individual parks, you’ll find that Sequoia and Kings
Canyon are often combined together in terms of accommodations, attractions
and things to do — even by the National Park Service. In fact, you might not
notice when you leave one park and enter the next. However, each park has
its own unique history and protects vital resources within their borders. In
fact, Kings Canyon protects one of the deepest canyons in North America,
Kings River Canyon.
If you add Sequoia to your bucket list, you’ll probably stumble into Kings
Canyon at one point or another, so it only makes sense to add a few Kings
Canyon gems to your must-see list. Zumwalt Meadow, Grizzly Fall, and
Knapp Cabin are popular attractions in the park, but you can also drive along
Kings Canyon Scenic Byway to marvel at the incredible canyon walls from
several scenic overlooks.

Outdoor Grilling
W
hether you plan to barbecue on Labor Day, Sept. 6 — or celebrate the
more eccentric Barbecue Your Breakfast Day, Sept. 4 — outdoor grilling
is a wonderful way to get together with your loved ones while staying
safe from the Delta variant.
But which cities promise the perfect conditions for firing up the grill?
Photograph
Lawn Love ranked over 180 of the largest U.S. cities to determine the Best Cities
for Outdoor Grilling. We looked for cities with plenty of butcher shops, affordable
meat, nice weather, and community interest based on Google search trends.
Check out the 10 cities that sizzled their way to the top of the ranking (and the 10
that burned to the bottom) below, followed by surprising findings from our report.

Surprising findings:
No Rain on Your Pork Parade: Two California cities topped our ranking of the
Best Cities for Outdoor Grilling — Pomona at No. 1 and Palmdale at No. 2.
Pomona ranked high in our Access, Cost, and Outdoors categories. Besides hav-
ing access to butcher shops and affordable cuts of meat, Pomona historically expe-
riences infrequent rain, few extremely hot or cold days, and low wind speed. These
environmental qualities make it a prime location for hosting backyard barbecues.
Less than 90 minutes away, Palmdale does not have quite as many butcher shops
as Pomona, but it does offer low meat prices and a similar climate. Your party won’t
get rained out in these two cities.
A Hollywood Meat Cute: While California is best known for Hollywood, beaches,
and hills, it also boasts a strong farming culture. California is the fifth-largest cattle
producer in the U.S., with nearly 13,700 ranches operating in The Golden State.
It’s no surprise, then, that
California cities dominated the

California also pioneered
the farm-to-table movement,
thanks to activist and culinary
artist Alice Waters. The in-

locally sourced foods has
likely led to the proliferation of butcher shops in these cities.
Carnivorous Cliques: There’s a reason why the southern half of the mainland
hosts the best backyard barbecues: They’re also home to the most outdoor grilling
fans.
The top 10 of our Popularity rank was dominated by cities in lower latitudes, with
Austin, Texas, coming in first, followed by Los Angeles (No. 2) and Houston (No.
3). Memphis (No. 6), Birmingham, Alabama (No. 7), and Corona, California (No.
9) also smoked the competition in this category.
But the southern regions aren’t the gatekeepers of America’s barbecue culture.
Plenty of BBQ fans hail from Midwestern cities like Kansas City, Missouri (No.
4), and Overland Park, Kansas (No. 5).
In 2017, Kansas City hosted the world’s biggest grilling lesson at Arrowhead Sta-
dium. Once a meatpacking hub, Kansas City is another region with a signature bar-
becue style, sizzling its way to first place in the Best BBQ Cities metric.

Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to interview Lawn Love
managing editor and grilling guru Sharon Sullivan about our study and findings.

Insisted that
‘Impeachment’
Depict Clinton
Thong-Flashing
By Asia Grace / REUTERS

B ill Clinton had a thing for her thong — and Monica Lewinsky wants the
world to know it.
Hoisting up her big-girl undies as a producer of FX’s forthcoming series
“Impeachment: American Crime Story,” Lewinsky, 48, admittedly urged
show writers to include a scene re-enacting the moment she flashed her silver
thong at then-President Clinton during their sordid Oval Office affair in the
’90s.
“Listen, I would’ve loved to have been really selfish and said, ‘That’s great
that you guys think we don’t have to show that, fantastic,’” Lewinsky told
The Hollywood Reporter of her motivation for highlighting her the less-
than-demure display.
“But I’m incredibly experienced in understanding how people see this
story,” she added.
The FX production, set to premiere Sept. 7, will spill the juicy details of
the scandalous sexual escapades between Clinton, now 75, and Lewinsky,
who was 21 when she served as a White House intern from 1995 to 1997.
But Lewinsky’s panty presentation was initially nixed from the original
“Impeachment” script by writer Sarah Burgess, who feared “retraumatizing
Monica” by recreating the scene for the series.

Will ‘Impeachment’ have Bill-Monica sex scenes —

and will Hillary watch the show?
The indecent incident was featured in the Starr Report — an exposé com-
posed by counsel Ken Starr, whose investigation into Clinton’s sexual dal-
liances with Lewinsky ultimately led to his impeachment in 1998.
But Lewinsky fought to incorporate her thong-flashing hap into the show
in order to maintain the production’s integrity.
“So, ultimately, I felt two things: One was that I shouldn’t get a
pass because I’m a producer; and two, that it was unfair to the

team and to the project because it would leave everybody vulner-

able,” she said, noting audiences would likely blame her if the
scene had been omitted.
“Impeachment: American Crime Story” stars Beanie Feldstein,
28, as Lewinsky; Sarah Paulson, 46, as Linda Tripp; Clive Owen,
56, as President Clinton; and Edie Falco, 58, as Hillary Clinton.

fact that the overall average cost to own and operate a new car in 2021 was

That's the headline number from the American Automobile Association's
(AAA) latest "Your Driving Costs" study, which is the group's annual at-

cars. Using a proprietary formula, AAA has been figuring out what it costs
the average driver to operate their car through these studies since 1950 and,
while the methodology has been adjusted through the years, the mission
remains the same: take the most popular models on the market and "[break]
down the cost of owning a new car including depreciation, finance, fuel,
insurance, license/registration/ taxes and maintenance/repair/tires."

PRESS SECRETARY
REVEALS WHY SHE
PLANS TO STEP DOWN IN
THE NEAR FUTURE
Yahoo TV / STEPHEN PROCTOR

W
hite House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared on CNN Tonight With
Don Lemon Thursday, after making headlines earlier in the day. In an
interview with David Axelrod, with whom she worked during the
Obama administration, Psaki revealed that she plans to step down from her po-
sition “in a year from now or about a year from now.”
Speaking with Lemon, Psaki reiterated that timeline, saying this has always
been the plan — but she also revealed the two very good reasons why.
“This was something I told colleagues and friends, and in my discussions with
the amazing people in the Biden orbit, was part of the discussion early on. I'm so
honored to serve this president, and at this moment in history to be a small part
of rebuilding trust in government,” Psaki said. “But I also have two little kids
who are preschoolers, and I know a lot of moms who watch your show who un-
derstand that. I don't want to miss a lot of moments.”
Psaki is incredibly popular with the White House press corps, for the most part,
and has gained some fans among the American people as well.
But Psaki made it clear that when she feels it’s time to go, she’ll go.
“I’ve also had the honor of serving not just this president, but a president in
the past,” Psaki said. “I think at a certain point it's time to have other people serve
in these jobs and roles, and have this front seat to history. And I’m hopeful that
part of what I can do in this job is help build that up and help give people oppor-
tunity, and lift up some new voices and faces.”

Who Gave Money to Biden and Harris

By Nicole Spector

F
ormer President Donald Trump is not a fan
of the Biden/Harris administration; he’s
called President Joe Biden a “wacko” and
Vice President Kamala Harris a “monster” as
well as a “super liberal wack job." One would
think that his disgust with these Democrats runs
long and deep. But looks — and tweets — can be
deceiving. Trump has actually supported Harris
in the past, and the proof is his bank account
(well, sort of). Political contribution data on the
California Secretary of State website shows
Trump gave $5,000 to Harris during her first
campaign for attorney general in 2011 — and an-
other $1,000 in 2013 amid her reelection. Ivanka
Trump was also in on the Kamala love when in
2014, she made a contribution to Harris' reelec-
tion campaign.
Trump giving Harris’ campaign money may be
the most astonishing present-day example of a
Republican supporting a Democrat, but it’s
hardly the only one. According to research data touts a net worth of $5.3 billion a greater pattern.
