CHAPTER 2
At Modernong Kultura Co., we aim to reach out for people to have positive impact
to communities in which we serve and operate. To go beyond what we can achieve in our
operations, we want to give opportunities and helping hands to less fortunate children
who are orphans. We intend to help them in discovering their full potential to our fullest
extent. Our company wants to embrace the orphans to give them comfort and there are
still people who want to embrace them despite of their fortune. Just like our bracelets,
want to make ties and be connected to the children and somehow put smiles on their
faces.
Modernong Kultura Co. is a place where we value our members to serve our
customers. We give our team members opportunities to grow themselves by providing
them programs to volunteer in and make an impact to our customers and to the
community where we are operating.
o General Donations
Our CSR project will involve “Revenue Sharing.” We will be donating 10% of our
company’s earnings for deserving causes. Specifically, these earnings will be given to
charities that help and support orphans. The orphanage we chose to help is the Hospicio
de San Jose located in San Miguel, Manila.
Aside from Revenue Sharing, we also want our employees to be involved in our
CSR Project. This project creates opportunities and incentives for our employees to
increase morale and engagement. The activities in this program will include fund
donations and seminars on how to create bracelets.
On General Donations
It was revealed in different studies that charitable giving has an effect in the
emotional state of the giver and in their financing activity. Data from 200 big donors are
suggestive of the impact that taxes have on giving (Prince and File, 1994, as cited by Lise
Vesterlund). It was revealed in the study that “awareness of tax advantages” was ranked
the third most motivation for making charitable donations. In a research conducted by the
National Institutes of Health 2, participants who chose to donate a portion of $100 were
provided enjoyed activated pleasure centers in the brain. Although this experiment was
controlled and scientific, it did show that donating money simply makes you feel better,
which is something we can all benefit from (Robertson, 2015).
Going beyond donating money and resources, an area of specific interest to many
companies these days is that of Employee Volunteer Programs (EVPs). Unlike financial
donations and in-kind support, EVPs allow companies to foster a more personal link to
the community by sharing its human resources with organizations in need. As the
economy slows and nonprofit organizations struggle to provide services on smaller
budgets, volunteers become even more vital to the health of our nation’s communities. In
return for this help, companies benefit with more productive and satisfied employees, a
better bottom line and an improved standing in the community (Junior Achievement,
2009).
Driven by our strong belief that every child must have the opportunity to learn and
know his or her full potential, the target group of this project will be those orphans aged
9-14 years old. The program will be a one-day activity that will probably last for about five
hours. However, the said one-day activity will be conducted quartly.
The table below shows the timeline of activity of this CSR project.
This CSR project will also have its own logo provided by the picture below:
The table below shows the allocated budget for the CSR project.
Allocated budget for the CSR Project will be divided into six sections with different
