Sex–trait stereotypes (định kiến) may be defines as a set of psychological attributes (thuộc
tính) that characterize men more frequently than women. Thus, males are often described as
ambitious, unemotional, and independent and, on the other hand, like selfish, unrefined, and
insensitive. Females are described as emotional, irrational, high-strung (dễ xúc động), and tentative
(dò xét). In spite of the egalitarian (CN trung bình, bình quân) movement, recent studies have
demonstrated that sex-trait stereotypes remain common among young adults today. In fact, such
stereotyping has proved to be the psychological justification for social beliefs concerning the
appropriateness of various activities for men and women that further perpetuate (lúng túng) the
different sex roles traditionally ascribed (đổ lỗi) to men and women.
The awareness of sex – trait stereotypes in the United States developes a linear (triều hướng)
fashion between the ages of four and ten. Generally, knowledge of male stereotypical characteristics
develops earlier, whereas knowledge of female characteristics increases more rapidly between the
ages of four and seven. While the reasons for this learning are not fully understood, evidence suggests
that at the preschool level children’s literature and television programs provide powerful models and
reinforcement for stereotyped views. Studies designed to compare sex-trait stereotypes cross–
nationally show a high degree of correspondence in the characteristics ascribed to men and women.
As finding have been obtained in the other countries, two hypotheses (giả thuyết) have been advanced
to explain the commonalities in sex trait stereotyping. One states that pancultural (động vật học)
similarities play a role in the psychological characteristics attributed to men and women, and the
second states that the general picture is one of cultural relativism (thuyết tương đối).

Nowadays, most people fail to achieve the Ideal work life balance. This essay will discuss some
effects and also suggests ways to address this problem
This issue is often associated with some unwanted consequences. Firstly, having an unhealthy work
life balance can have a negative effect on people’s health since these individuals tend to sacrifice their
daily physical activities and recreational activities to work. This in the long term will lead to an
increased level of stress and stress-related illness. Secondly, work-life imbalance can also give rise to
growing problems with parenting. The materialistic society of today drives many parents to becoming
9
workaholics, which lead them to spending less time taking care of their children. Without adequate
supervision from parents, children can easily go on the wrong track.
Therefore, some practical solutions are suggested to mitigate the problem. One viable step is that
people need to consider and see what makes them happy and then set priorities in life. When they
come home from work, they must learn to switch the office button off. By doing so, they will have
more time to enjoy leisure activities and refresh themselves. Furthermore, people should plan a
flexible schedule for their life. For example, some days, they might focus more on work, while others
might have more time and energy to pursue their hobbies or relax with their loved ones. This will
enable them to enjoy every part of their life.
In conclusion, work life imbalance can lead to some harmful impacts on people’s health and family,
and some steps should be taken into account to mitigate this problem.
Từ vựng:
• To achieve the Ideal work life balance: Đạt được cân bằng công việc cuộc sống lý tưởng

• give rise to something : Gây ra điều gì đó
