Lesson Plan in MTB-MLE

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
1. Orally segment two or more syllable word into its syllabic parts.
2. Give the new spoken words when two or more syllables are joined to form
words.

II. Materials
 MTB-MLE Indicators
 Pictures, riddles, big box
 Value- respect to community helpers

III. Procedures
A. Review
 What is the name of the carabao in the story?
 What kind of animal is Didoy?
 In what letter sound does it begin?
 Give the sound of letter Dd three times.
 Write Dd on air
B. Presentation
1. Key Picture/Key Word: damulag
- Show picture that begin with letter Dd
- Give the initial sound better saying the name of the picture
2. Present the Key Picture and Key Word

- What does the picture tell?


This is a picture of a _________.
- Read the key word 2-3 times with the pupils
3. Syllable Box
- Points to the key word and read it at normal speed

- Point to each syllable as teacher read each syllable distinctly

- Reading each syllable again, clap once for each syllable. Do this again and
have pupils clap for each syllable.

4. Word Breaking
- Write the key word on the left side under the syllable box. Read it to and then
with the pupils.
- Write the new letter directly under the new letter above. Read it to them with the
pupils.
- Continues writing each smaller part of the word and reading it to and with the
pupils.
- Write new letter directly under the new letter above. Read the new letter to and
with the pupils.
- Read the whole Break-the-word column with the pupils.

5. Word Making
- Write the new letter to the right of the breaking-the-word column and read the
new letter with the pupils.
- Write the part of the word with the new letter so the new letter are in the straight
column. Then read the part of the word with the pupils.
- Follow that pattern using many steps as you did with the Break-the-word
activity.
- Finally write the entire word so the new letter are in straight column and read
the word within the pupils.
- Pupils read the keyword syllable box, break the word and make the word
together volunteer read alone.

6. Big Box

- Pupils read the letter/syllable as teacherpoint to each box


- First move the pointer across each row of the Big Box as pupils read
- Then move the pointer down column as they read.
- Next point to different letter or syllables randomly
- Volunteer read each letter or syllables as teacher point to it
- Teacher correct mistake committed
7. Finding the words in the Big Box
- Pupils locate/generated other words in the Big Box. These may be words they
previously learned or even better word they have not learned/introduced by the
teacher.
- Read the words with the pupils as they identify them.
- Ask the pupils, “is the word correct?”. If yes, read it with the pupil. If not another
pupils point to the correct others.
- Write each new word on the chalkboard
- Pupils read all the generated words in the word list together.

- Teacher chooses from among the generated words a word that he/she may
use in a sentence.

- Writes the sentence Making Word (dakol) Points to it and read it with the
pupils. Tell the pupils that you will use this word to make a sentence
- Writes the whole sentence under the Big Box towards the left side.
- Move the pointer under the sentence as he/she read it with the pupils.
- Write the part of the sentence with the sentences making words directly under
the same word above.
- Uses the pointer and read every part of the sentence with the pupils.
- Write the next smaller part of the sentence
- Uses the pointer and read every part of the sentence with the pupils.
- Write the sentence-making word by itself so it is directly under the same
words in the row above and read it with the pupils.

- Tell the pupil, “Now we will make the sentence again”.


- Write the sentence making word under the Big Box but on the right side.
- Point to the word as teacher read it with the pupils.
- Write the next biggest part of the sentence under the sentence making above.
- Use the pointer and read that part of the sentence with the pupils
- Now, write the entire sentence so that the sentence making word is just under
the same word above
- Uses again the pointer and read the sentence with the pupil.
C. Guided Practice
- Pupils read from word, phrases and sentences from word, syllable box, word
breaking, work making, big box, new word, sentence breaking.
- Call volunteer, pai/dyad, rows, in group and entire class.
