RAJAN THE DRIVER

 Knows Mr.Somaraju well and thought that he was justified in demanding action against
driver.

According to report –

 Rajan the driver on his way back to plant did not stop the bus near sabjimandi inspite of the
plant’s security officer, Mr. Somaraju signaling him to stop.
 Somaraju saw the minibus at 4 pm and signaled to stop but the driver ignored and sped
towards the direction of the plant.

 Allowed Rajan to carry people in the bus on one instance (humanitarian ground)

Points

 The bus which is used to take the employees from plant to Nathadwara / from Nathadwara
to plant comes back or goes empty.
 23 January – Rajan -take first shift employees to Nathadwara and drop them to their
respective residence

MR. RAJAN

 After dropping the employees, he was stopped by a group of school children some of whom
happened to be the ward of some plant employees
 It was afternoon and no public transportation was available
 He accepted it only on humanitarian ground and not for any selfish reason
 He did not receive the signal from Somaraju to stop the bus but he observed that Somaraju
was drunk and not able to stand properly on his feet
 He did not like a drunken man in the bus along with school children
 Therefore, he did not stop the bus
 He was ready to prove whatever he had said
 Facts – on humanitarian grounds, the plant driver had carried ordinary passengers on their
way back, and these instances were taken place only in extraordinary circumstances. No one
ever objected to such practices
 People have observed that Rajan is very popular in the area
 He had joined the plant as a casual labour as an unskilled worker – he learned driving by
cajoling the old driver and eventually was appointed in the post of driver on probation
 Till date he has not received any confirmation as a permanent driver
 He has developed a close contact with the recognized employee’s union
 Good track record except on one instance of stopping bus at tea stall abruptly because he
was feeling sleepy and could not drive safely back
 Management decided to remove the driver from his present position to production
department of the plant – this got to employee’s union activated
 On the other hand, Somaraju will not felt justice is done until and unless the driver was
punished

MR. SOMARAJU

 Filed a report
 Believes that Rajan was carrying unauthorized passengers in plant’s vehicle
 Rajan ignored signal from an officer of plant
 Reported the incident on 24th (next day) due to non-availability of transport
 As soon as he was accosted by the driver and abused badly by him
 Requested to GM to take stern actions against driver
 After Rajan’s explanation Somaraju replied ….
 Allegations were baseless
 He has never taken alcohol during daytime
 The ploy taken by Rajan to hide that he was taking unauthorized passengers
 In bus there were some adults too
 The driver has abused an officer of the organization therefore actions should be taken
against him

Facts

 Joined as security officer 3 years back


 Good track record in organization and is consider as an upright person
 He has once beaten up one or two casual laborers mercilessly, due to which he was
gheraoed and abused by employee’s union and apologized in public
 20 years of service in armed force
 Habit of drinking but only after office hours and no one has seen him drunk during daytime
