Background of the Study
Today's modern life generation, many individual have been positively ecological to the
environment. Environmental-Sustainability is one of the greatest goal of human race for
it is the way to conserve natural resources and to develop alternate sources of power
while reducing pollution and harm to the environment. As a result, developers have
looked for other healthy and eco-friendly alternative pesticide. In this Study, the
researchers chose organic products as a potential healthy and eco-friendly alternative
pesticide.

Organic Products are produced without using antibiotics in animal feed, genetically
engineered organisms, chemical preservatives, radiation, or artificial pesticides,
herbicides, or fertilizers. (Encyclopedia, 2021)

Ginger and Apple Cider Vinegar are one of the potential source of organic products that
is healthy and eco-friendly alternative pesticide. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is one of the
plant sources of pesticides (vegetable pesticides) that can be used for trips pest control
because it contains zingeron ketone compounds that have a spicy taste, causing the insect
body to feel hot, fever and die. And also apple cider vinegar is highly effective at
repelling pest because it contains acetic acid which kills the pest.

Lastly, the research would only aim a small amount of apple cider vinegar to the pesticide
in order for the plant not to die because of it's acetic acid.

Objectives of the Study

1.1 What kind of chemical compound that is present on a Ginger?
-Gingerol

Research Hypothesis

(Null hypothesis (H1): Zingiber Officinalis(Ginger) and apple cider vinegar can not

be an effective as an organic insecticide Alternative hypothesis (H1):Zingiber Officinalis(

Ginger) and apple cider vinegar has a present chemical components that can be utilized

and be effective as an organic pesticide.

Significance of the Study

The researchers have made this project to create an environment friendly substance, since

our environment is at stake because of pollutions, for example air pollution. If you

haven’t noticed our planet is deteriorating because of this. And one of the causes of air

pollutions is the insecticides and pesticides which have harmful chemicals. To lessen the

problem of air pollution, the researchers have made this organic insecticide.

Scope and Limitations

The general purpose of this study is to make use of organic vinegar (a liquid substance

consisting Acetic Acid and water), and ginger (Zingiber Officinale) and use them as a

Dissolution (organic insecticide)

The subject matter of this study only focuses on how the researchers could utilize the

organic vinegar and ginger solution as an insecticide while regulating the possible harms,

errors, and the lack of test subjects (insects) while performing the study.

1
Definition of Terms

Dissolution - refers to the process of dissolving or breaking apart. Dissolution is the noun

form of the verb dissolve, which most commonly means to mix into and melt within a liquid
but has several other meanings, including to break apart
Zingiber Officinale – also known as ginger in English is a Southeast Asian plant, which
resembles bamboo in appearance, from which ginger is taken.
Acetic Acid - The acid most commonly associated with vinegar. Acetic acid is a two-carbon
carboxylic acid. Its formula is: CH3COOH. It is the most commercially important
organic acid
Apple Cider - also called sweet cider or soft cider or simply cider is the name used in the
United States and Canada for an unfiltered, unsweetened, non-alcoholic beverage made
from apples

Review of Related Literature

Our product is all organic and since it is safe to use and effective, it is a great

replacement for those toxic Insecticides. Ginger and Vinegar are the main ingredients of

our product. Ginger is a plant that has many benefits. Not only to maintain the health of

the human body, ginger can also be used as an organic pesticide because it has oils in

which can help kill insects. Vinegar also, is effective in repelling ants, mosquitoes, fruit

flies, and many others since it has acid that can kill insects as well. That's why this

project is much of use to you especially when it comes to gardening and not only that, it

is also organic so it is safe for our environment.

Subheading 1

The danger of chemical insecticide has been linked to a wide range of human

health issues, ranging from short-term impacts such as headaches and nausea to chronic

impacts like cancer, reproductive harm and endocrine disruption.

Not only is it harmful for humans, but it can also damage agricultural land by harming

beneficial insect species, soil microorganisms, and worms which naturally limit pest

populations and maintain soil health. The pesticides are weakening the plant root system

and immune system, reducing the concentration of essential plant nutrients in the soil

such as nitrogen and phosphorous.

Subheading 2

Modern investigations have supported the claims of the insecticidal activity of

several plants, including Garlic Plant (Allium sativum), and Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis).

Garlic (Allium sativum), a natural fungicidal and pesticide properties that work

effectively to control pests, makes an excellent economical, non-toxic biological

pesticide for use in agriculture (Patterson, 2014). The natural pesticide (garlic) has a

strong aroma that can provide an olfactory camouflage against insects, masking their

normal host-finding or feeding cues (Perrin and Phillips, 1978).

Nerium Oleander leaves possess antibacterial properties (Farnaz, 1996; Siddiqui et al.,

1997). The metabolism of oleandrin, a cytotoxic component of Nerium oleander has been

studied by Madden et al. (2002). Polysaccharides isolated from the flowers of Nerium

indicum exert partial protection (Yu et al., 2007).

Subheading 3

3
one of the properties of a vinegar that is good and present substance that would

help to be an alternative insecticide is zingeron ketone. Zingeron ketone is a compound

that is found in a ginger, and also it has a spicy taste, causing the insect body to feel hot,

fever and die.

Subheading 4

one of the properties of vinegar that is good and present substance that would help

to be an alternative insecticide is acetic acid. Acetic acid is a chemical found in vinegar

which can be used as an insecticide

if the concentration is higher than 8% it can kill weeds as well as insects thats why it can

be used as an insecticide

Research Locale

The researchers conducted the study in their own house's due to Quarantine.Based

on our observation in our places there are a lot of different pest that are present in a plant

We opted to conduct this research to find organic insecticides that is less expensive and

are easier to create in this pandemic.

Research Design

This study used five-group as a comparative and as an experimental study. This

Experiment involves the extraction of Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) and Organic Vinegar

and the testing and effectiveness of its anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant potential

specifically against pest and insects.

Research Materials

The following are the itemized list of the materials that were used in conducting the

study:

1 chopping board

1 knife

1 measuring cup

1 measuring spoon

6
5 organic ginger

1 bottle of organic apple cider vinegar

4 spray bottles

1 liter of bottle water

Procedure

A. Preparation of Materials

The vinegar were bought in the organic market place and the gingers were picked from

one of the researchers' garden. The materials were then put and organized in containers so

there wouldn't be any confusion during the making of the organic pesticides.

B. Making of the Organic Insecticides

After preparing the materials, the researchers first chopped the ginger and then put 3

tablespoons of the chopped ginger inside the 4 spray bottles evenly. In the 1st spray

bottle, the researchers poured 2 cups of vinegar inside. In the 2nd spray bottle, we added

2 cups of vinegar and ½ cup of water. In the 3rd spray bottle, we put 2 cups of vinegar

and 1 cup of water. And lastly, in the 4th spray bottle, we put 2 cups of vinegar and 1½

cup of water.

C. Modifying and Testing

7
After putting the ingredients in each perspective bottle, the researchers tried several trials

in our garden. We found out which is the more effective among the trials, we then

recorded our observation.

Statistical Tools

Statistical Tools The researchers used the spray bottles in order to store the different

test mixture of ginger and apple cider vinegar and to test the effects of the different spray

bottles in the plants and the pest.
