A Chaplet For The Soul
A Chaplet For The Soul
Leader: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
All: Amen
Leader: First Decade: We offer Thee, O Lord, this first decade for the soul of Thy
servant, ELCITA, through the precious blood which Thou did shed for her in
Thy agony in the Garden of Olives. O good Jesus, have mercy on her.
Leader: Second Decade: We offer Thee, O Lord, this second decade for the soul of
Thy servant, ELCITA through the precious blood which Thou did shed for her
in Thy scourging. O good Jesus, have mercy on her.
Leader: Third Decade: We offer Thee, O Lord, this third decade for the soul of Thy
servant, ELCITA through the precious blood which Thou did shed for her in
carrying the Cross of Calvary. O good Jesus, have mercy on her,
Leader: Fourth Decade: We offer Thee, O Lord, this fourth decade for the soul of Thy
servant, ELCITA through the precious blood which Thou did pour forth upon
the Cross, and through the dolors which Mary, our tender Mother endured at
the foot of the Cross. O good Jesus, have mercy on her
Leader: Fifth Decade: We offer Thee, O Lord, this fifth decade for the soul of Thy
servant, ELCITA. We offer Thee for this soul so dear to us, the precious blood
that flowed from Thy heart transfixed by the lance. Through the mysterious
wound in Thy Divine Heart, O good Jesus, open to this soul of Thy servant,
ELCITA, the gate of heaven and grant us to be reunited with it forever in the
bosom of Thy goodness.
Leader: Let us pray, We beseech Thee, O Lord, to grant Thy infinite mercy unto Thy
servant, ELCITA, that having our intention be kept Thy will, she may not
suffer in requital of her deeds, but that as here on earth, a true faith joined her
unto the company of the faithful, so there in heaven Thy compassion may
associate her with the choirs of angels through Christ, our Lord,
All: Amen.
LITANY FOR THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
Leader All
O eternal God, Who, besides the general precept of charity, has commanded a
particular respect to parents, kindred and benefactors, grant we beseech Thee that
as they were the instruments by which Thy providence bestowed on us our birth,
education and innumerable other blessings, so our prayers may be the means to
obtain for them a speedy release from their excessive sufferings and free admittance
to Thine infinite joys, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
All: Lord, help us to see death for what it really is - the end of poverty and the beginning
of riches; the end of frustration and the beginning of fulfillment; the end of fear and
the beginning of tranquility; the end of pain and the beginning of joy; the end of
weakness and the beginning of strength.
O Lord Jesus, whose rich and unforgettable life was lived in the faith that the love
which surrounds us, is as real and dependable as that of a father, let that same
sense of trust and hope steady us at this time.
Let not grief overwhelm us, or a sense of loss embitter us. But in the hour of our
sadness, let there arise a new joy for so much is given to us. Help us to see that
what we love becomes part of us, interfused with our lives, blended with mind and
memory, hollowed forever within our soul. Let not grief take away our hope, or
bereavement blind us to what always remains good and lovely and indestructible.
O gracious Spirit of Peace, come alive within our experience and hurt, within our
sorrow and isolation, within the sadness of today and the loneliness of tomorrow,
come alive as the peace and trust which nothing life or death can kill. Cast out our
fears and let not our hearts be troubled, knowing that this world remains our Father's
house. These, our prayers, we offer for the soul of ELCITA, through Christ, our
Lord, Amen.
