BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The researcher is presently residing at Poblacion, Sultan Naga Dimaporo,

Lanao del Norte, born on October 1, 1996 in Poblacion, Sultan Naga Dimaporo,

Lanao del Norte. She is the eldest daughter of Antenor F. Penaloza and Alme L.

Bandala. She finished her Elementary Education in the school year 2009 at Sutan

Naga Dimaporo Central Elementary School, her Secondary Education at Christ

the King College de Maranding in 2013. During her Tertiary Education, she took

up Bachelor in Secondary Education- major in English at MSU- Lanao del Norte

Agricultural College, Ramain, SND, Lanao del Norte in school year 2016-2017.

After her Tertiary Education, she took and passed the Licensure

Examination for Teachers held at Pagadian City last September 24, 2017. She

decide to apply as a Public School Teacher at the Department of Education,

Division of Lanao del Norte and luckily she was hired last June 25, 2018.

Currently, she is teaching at Calube Integrated School, SND West.

methods who has always been more than willing to laugh with, and in most cases,

her red pen has caused nightmares, but her support and wisdom have been

unending. To Dr. Gloria E. Bandala, who always greets her with a smile, who

Naquines, who gave her fruitful suggestions and corrections and sharing her

knowledge and technical know-how.

To my family, Rajeeyah and abie Jeeboy who missed her when she

worked nights and weekends to finish this study but always knew she had rather

the ICT Coordinator-respondents of the study, thank you for the time they spent in

ABSTRACT

LAMAMA, CHARlTY ANNE CAMILLE P. Mindanao State University –

Lanao del Norte Agricultural College. May 2019. “Challenges of ICT

Coordinators of SND West District and the Academic Performance of their

Learners: Proposed Policy Intervention”

Thesis Adviser: Eliza E. Redondo, Ph.D.

This study aimed to determine the challenges of ICT Coordinators of SND

West District in their teaching and academic performance of the learners.

Specifically, it aimed to: determine the personal profile of the ICT Coordinators,

investigate challenges of ICT Coordinators;, assess ICT Coordinators’ teaching

and learner’s academic performance, and develop a policy intervention that can

improve ICT Coordinator’s performance towards learners’ teaching and learning

performance.

This study used descriptive – qualitative method of research. The

researcher utilized the seventeen (17) ICT Coordinators who were purposively

chosen and their corresponding learners who were selected through cluster

sampling technique.

The study found out that majority of the ICT Coordinators are aged 25-29

years old, female, with master’s degree units, have 1-5 number of years as ICT

Coordinator, attended 1-3 seminars and training related to ICT, and mostly have
7-8 teaching loads. They challenges in computer literacy, technology resources,

software resources, and internet connectivity were encountered and challenges on

software resources was moderately encountered. It further revealed that majority

of the learners’ academic performance had a very satisfactory performance with

85%-89% average grades.

With regards to the ICT Coordinators’ challenges encountered on

computer literacy, technology resources, software resources, and internet

connectivity to their learners’ academic performance, results show they are not

significantly related. The null hypothesis was accepted. Similarly, the challenges

encountered on computer literacy, technology resources, software resources, and

internet connectivity with the ICT Coordinators’ teaching performance, also show

they are not significantly related as the null hypothesis was accepted.
