COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course has been designed to give awareness to the students of law in the field of
commercial laws. Its main focus is on the study of Contract Act 1872 which is a deep rooted
subject.
As a matter of subject, Law of Contract-I deals with all the main topics mentioned in sections 1-
147 of Contract Act 1872.
GRADING POLICY:
Attendance/Class Participation 5%
Assignment/Quiz/Presentation 55%
Final Exam 40%

TASK 1:
Bisset v Williams (1927)
Problem Question:
Ali wants to buy land which can carry 2000 sheep. He offers Bilal a land owner that if his 2 acre
land can carry 2000 sheep. He will buy it.
Bilal who never used the area for sheep gave a positive assertion and a result the deal was
carried out.
Ali after finding out that the area is not enough wants to sue Bilal for fraud. Suggest Ali.
TASK 2:
Ali is a successful businessman. Owing to his success, he is often under pressure when
negotiating business deals, as other parties are aware that he can often afford to pay large
sums of money. Ali accepts this as a part of business but is particularly concerned in relation to
few contracts.
Contract No 1:
Contract one is for sale of goods. Asad has sent Ali an email to sell his 5 tractors to him for
Rs.10,000/= each or there will be consequences. Ali went ahead and did what Asad asked for.
Contract No 2:
Contract two is between Ali and Bilal (Who is Ali’s Lawyer). Bilal being Ali’s Lawyer and advisor
persuaded Ali for a long time to enter into a contract, which Ali thinks is not that advantageous
for his business. But to maintain a good working relationship with his lawyer he moves ahead
with the contract.
