In order for you to conduct self-exploration and simple disclosure, you should be able to
accomplish the following activities.
Note:
Answer the inventory based on how you see yourself and not of what others perceive you
to be. Do not overthink or over analyze each item. Do not ask somebody else to validate
your answer if you are really that kind of person. Ask yourself only of what you think of
yourself. This is just a self-inventory. There are no right or wrong answers. Just be
yourself. Your score does not define you as a person, there are areas which you think you
are weak at, which maybe normal because your development is still in progress. This
inventory will be your guide to validate later if your perception of yourself is true.
Guided Instruction:
Step 1. Read instruction in Personal Development book (page 1). Rate yourself for each item
under appropriate category

or were you able to be known by other people because of this? What are your plans to
develop it more?
IV. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Use one (1) whole sheet of paper in answering the test following the format below:
Part I. Self-concept
Instruction: Read the statements carefully and write YES if you think the statement is true and
NO if you think the statement is false.
1. Ideal self is the one that you hope you will possess - characteristics similar to
that of a mentor or some other worldly figure you know.
2. Your actual self is the one that you actually see. It is the self that has
characteristics that you were nurtured or, in some cases, born to have.
3. The actual self and the ideal self are two broad categories of the self-concept.
4. Self- knowledge refers to your awareness of yourself. It is the construct that
negotiates these two selves.
5. Self – concept identifies the ideal self as separate from others, and it then
embraces all the behaviors evaluated in the actual self to reach the ideal self.
6. The ideal self is built on self-knowledge.
7. Self-knowledge is derived from social interactions that provide insight into how
others react to you.
8. The actual self includes how we think, how we feel, look, and act.
9. The actual self cannot be seen by others, but because we have no way of truly
knowing how others view us, the actual self is our self-image.
10. The ideal self is an idealized image that we have developed over time, based on
what we have learned and experienced.
11. The ideal self could include components of what our parents have taught us,
what we admire in others, what our society promotes, and what we think is in
our best interest.
12. There is no negotiation that exists between the two selves which is complex
because there are numerous exchanges between the ideal and actual self.
13. Negotiations are the exchanges exemplified in social roles that are adjusted and
re-adjusted, because alignment in the self is important.
14. If the way that I am is aligned with the way that I want to be then I will feel
mental distress or anxiety.
15. If the way that I am is not aligned with how I want to be, the incongruence, or
