ADVERBS WORKSHEET-7

 Use suitable adverbs to complete the sentences. Choose from the box.

Loudly, comfortably, gratefully, quietly, softly ,suddenly ,gently, tomorrow ,very, Where.

1. As Maninder tiptoed quietly into the house, the wind blew the door shut.
2. The light came on suddenly.
3. His father was sifting comfortably in his favourite arm chàir.
4. He asked Maninder” Where were you?”
5. This one has become very old.
6. “Thank you, Mother,” said Maninder gratefully.

D. Place the adverb in bracket in the correct position in the following sentences.

 We walked to get there on time, (quickly)

1. She always reaches school at half past seven. (punctually) - She always reaches school punctually at half past
seven.
2. He picked up the jug and some water spilled out. (carelessly) – He carelessly picked up the jug and some
water spilled out.
3. He picked up the wrong bag. (carelessly) - He carelessly picked up the wrong bag.
4. The car stopped outside our house. (abruptly)- The car abruptly stopped outside our house.
5. He arrived home. (unexpectedly)- He unexpectedly arrived home.
6. The rain had stopped when I arrived, (already)- The rain had already stopped when I arrived.
7. It is time for us to go. (almost)- It is almost the time for us to go.
8. I have finished my exercise book, (nearly)- I have nearly finished my exercise book.
9. Those men came back to repair the pipe. (never)- Those men never came back to repair the pipe.
10. I go to bed before midnight, (nearly always)- I nearly always go to bed before midnight.

Find the adjective in the first sentence and fill the gap with the adverb.
(i) James is careful. He drives carefully.
(ii) The girl is slow. She walks slowly.
(iii) Her English is perfect. She speaks English perfectly.
(iv) Our teacher is angry. She shouts angrily.
(v) My neighbour is a loudspeaker. He speaks loudly.

(vii) Jane is a nice guitar player, He plays the guitar nicely.
(viii) He is a good painter. He paints well.
(ix) She is a quiet girl. She does her job quietly.
