1. How do you place the counterweight damper properly?

The counterweight is held by counterweight pins and
counterweight plate holds the
pins a secured by a snap ring
2. In the assembly, what is the important procedure so that the
full firing position is
achieved, such that the rest of the engine will be sequenced as
you proceed.
The number one piston is extended to what we call top dead
center so that the rest
of the engine will be sequenced as you proceed.
3. In the procedure of installing the front main bearing into the
front main crankcase
journal, how do you position them to align correctly?
If the front main bearing is two piece it must line up with the
dowel posts in the
crankcase when positioned mark the spot on the bearing where
it must meet the
dowels so that when placing in crankshaft journal, we can
visualize knowing that the
crankcase will go there the bearing will go there with the pencil
mark we will be
able to line up the dowel
4. Where do you find the proper torque value used in
tightening the bolts on the gear?
The bolts torque value can be found in the manufacture manual
5. Why is the crankshaft mounted vertically?
Crankshaft is vertically mounted for convenience it helps with
holding parts and
tools, when the engine is rotated by hand to position the
Pistons and perform
other timing operations, we can visualize the placement of the
engines parts
and understand that this is where the number one cylinder will
be the number
two cylinder and so forth this allows us to further visualize the
relationship
between parts
6. What is the function for the timing gear?
Timing gear drives the magneto and has an eccentric a cam
which drives the fuel
pump
7. What is that part that cannot be adjusted and will be thrown
out if no longer working?
The verna therm bypass valve is a thermostatically self-
operated valve that
exposes a hole to the oil cooling system when the Verna therm
heats up it
expands and covers the hole allowing oil to flow through the oil
cooling
system this is a simple mechanical system which cannot be
worked on or
adjusted when it no longer works it's thrown out
8. What is the silk thread used for?
The silk is like a gasket that fills the space between two or more
mating surface to
prevent leaks from or into the mated surface
9. What does it mean by "Go - No go"?
The dry tappet clearance is check by "Go - No go gauge to meet
the specification in the
manufacturer manual the minimum side go should fit and the
maximum side should not
fit if it does not the rod must be changed until it satisfies the Go
/ No-go
