Philippines in 2015 is a place where history and entertainment are seen as diametrically opposed
choices, the most visible indication that you either care about the country or you don't, that you are
either for us or against us; a place where politicians outpace each other in the dismal race for
incompetence; a place where the trivial is magnified while the magnificent is trivialized; a place where
politicians outpace each other in the dismal race for incompetence.

Technology and other advancements have occurred since Luna's time, but our nationalism seems to
have lagged far behind in comparison. But it has left us with a shattered democracy—and a population
that is willing to murder and threaten to return to a dictatorial government. We have become symbols
of the People Power protest, which has expanded across Asia, earning us a mention in Time magazine.

We have now been cast to the mercy of the apathetic winds of the sea.

In 2015, the Philippines places history and entertainment as mutually exclusive choices, the clearest
indication that you either care about the country or don't, that you're for us or against us; where
politicians outpace each other in the dismal race for incompetence; where the trivial is magnified while
the magnificent is trivialized.

In comparison to Luna's time, we today have advancements in technology and other areas, but our
nationalism seems to be lagging far behind. We became symbols of the People Power protest, which
swept across Asia and earned us a mention in Time magazine, but also left us with a shattered
democracy—and a population willing to murder and threaten to return to a dictatorial government.

We are now at the mercy of the uncaring winds.
