The 12 Labors

of Hercules
Hercules
Hercules was the son of Zeus and a mortal
woman.

Hercules had many adventures, but he is


primarily known for his strength.

In order to gain immortality, he had to


perform 12 tasks.
1st
Hercules killed the
Nemean lion. This
lion had huge teeth
and skin that could
not be penetrated
by arrows.
2nd
Hercules killed
a snake-like
monster with 9
heads called
the Hydra.
3rd
Hercules
captured a
giant deer with
golden horns
who could
scape an
arrow.
4th
Hercules
captured a giant
boar by chasing
for a week until it
dropped of
exhaustion.
5th
Hercules re-
routed two rivers
to clean a stable
that housed 3,000
cattle and had
not been
cleaned for 30
years.
6th
Hercules killed
man-eating
birds with beaks
made out of
bronze.
7th
Hercules
captured a
huge and
powerful bull
with silvery
horns, and
snow-white skin.
8th
Hercules stole
the Mares of
Diomedes, the
man-eating
horses.
9th
Hercules obtained
the golden
girdle/magical belt
of Hippolyta,
Queen of the
Amazons.

10th
Hercules
travelled to the
“end” of the
earth, fought a
two-headed dog,
to obtain the
cattle of Geryon.
11th
Slayed (killed) a
dragon to bring
the legendary
golden apples of
the Hesperides
back to King Eury.
12th
Completed the
impossible task of
capturing Cerberus,
the three-headed
dog, who guarded
the gates of Hades.
