AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500 CONFIGURATION (4 + 0, SD, XPIC)
• Link Aggregation (L1LA)
First begin by creating a VLAN for the L1LA configuration on both WTM1 and 2 (MAIN ODR’s). In the
example below, VLAN 300 is used for L1LA.

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500 CONFIGURATION (4 + 0, SD, XPIC)
• Link Aggregation (L1LA)
L1LA on the WTM 4500 is achieved using the Master – Slave model.
WTM1 will be configured as Master while WTM2 will configured as Slave.

WTM 4500 T / OBU

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T / OBU INSTALLATION

• WTM4500T equipment is similar to the standard WTM 4500.

• A coupling unit supporting up to 4 WTM4500T ODR’s.

• As the Filter are in the OBU all WTM4500T are not

frequency dependent.(same units for the bands)

• Slot are identify as: ODU1, ODU2, ODU3 and ODU4 for
easy identification and installation.

• Low coupling losses are filter and circulators are use for
coupling the different ODR.

Outdoor Branching Unit (OBU)

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

• WTM 4500 T like the standard WTM

4500 supports various configuration
options.

• Options include:
 4 + 0 ACCP
 4 + 0 XPIC
 4 + 0 XPIC / SD
 8 + 0 XPIC / SD

Note: Options must be define when

ordering the equipment, as this is set at the
manufacturing and can’t be change on field

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
 4 + 0 -ACCP Sticker showing Channel Bandwidth and spot
frequencies
• ACCP – Adjacent Channel Co-Polarization.

• Four (4) different frequencies (f1 – f4) are used in

adjacent channel

• Each frequency must be configured on a separate

WTM unit.

• OBU has pre-built in filters which define:

• Channel (Tx/Rx frequency)
• Channel bandwidth

• Frequency and Channel bandwidth for a specific

OBU can be easily identified by a sticker attached
to the unit.
Note: If you order and OBU with 30Mhz filter bandwidth you
will not be able to passthrough a 56 or 112 MHz channel

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
 4 + 0 XPIC
• CCDP – Co-Channel Dual Polarization.

• Same frequency used for on the vertical and horizontal

polarization.

• XPIC “Cross Polarization Interference Cancellation” must

be set on the ODR.

• XPIC cross connect cables must installed between the

WTM units

• XPIC configuration, give us more possibility for link

upgrade (optimization of the frequency plan).

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
 4 + 0 XPIC / SD
• SD (Space Diversity) configuration simply
introduces an additional antenna for the primary
purpose of path protection.

• OBU has antenna ports for main and diversity

and also for XPIC connections.

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
 8 + 0 XPIC / SD
• Similar to 4 + 0 XPIC/SD configurations, 8 + 0
introduces another OBU to further increase
capacity.

• An aggregated capacity of about 8 Gbps can

be achieved using this configuration.

• With 8 + 0, two OBU’s are installed on the

tower and also can be connected back to
back.

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION (4 + 0 XPIC, SD)

• Radio Link Configuration

 Radio Link configuration stays the same like the

standard WTM 4500.

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION (4 + 0 XPIC, SD)
• Space Diversity Configuration

Space Diversity on the WTM 4500 T must be set

as local.

 Local here means that the same unit serves as

Main and also Diversity at the same time.

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION (4 + 0 XPIC, SD)

• XPIC Configuration
XPIC configuration on the WTM 4500 T is slightly different from that of the standard WTM
4500. With the WTM 4500T, the vertical ODR’s are configured as vertical while the horizontal
ODR’s are configured as horizontal.

AVIAT NETWORKS
WTM 4500T CONFIGURATION (4 + 0 XPIC, SD)

• XPIC Configuration
• After configuration via portal, physical XPIC Cross
Connect cables will be installed between the units as
ODU_3 ODU_4
shown in this illustration.

• The “IN” port of ODU 1 (Vertical) connects to the “OUT”

port of ODU 3 (Horizontal) and similarly the “OUT” port of
ODU 1 (Vertical) connects to the “IN” port of ODU 3
(Horizontal).
• The same applies for ODU 2 and ODU 4.

• Other important Points

• Date and Time – Always ensure the

correct date and time is set on all WTM
units.

• This helps prevent immature expiration of

licenses particularly the trial license.

• It also ensures accurate performance and

history data is recorded.
