DCM Speed encoder calibration

Encoder calibration always includes calibrating all speed encoders.

For calibration, the speed control levers must be set to the 0 position
(lever back completely). Make sure the encoder stay in this position till
parameterisation was done.
1. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Module
2. Put the DIL-switch S 3.8 to “ON” position
3. Switch ON the DCM Module
4. The LED "SF1" flashes approx. 2 seconds after being activated
5. Give 3 times a short 24V signal on the terminal 17 of the Module.
This needs to be done within 10 seconds after switching ON the DCM Card.
=>The LED ”SF1” on DCM shines during parameterisation.
Wait till the LED will turn OFF.
=>The parameterisation may take a few moments!
6. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Card.
7. Put the DIL-switch S 3.8 to “OFF” position
8. Switch ON the DCM Card

YOUR PROPULSION EXPERTS 5

DCM Steering encoder calibration

Encoder calibration always includes calibrating setpoints and feedback.

For calibration, the system and Copilot must be set to the "ahead" position.
Make sure the encoder stay in this position till parameterisation was done.

Applying parameters to EEPROM on DCM

The 2-kByte EEPROM of the DCM stores parameters, which can be

individually adjusted for every ship.
That means that a module can be easily replaced in case of failure.
Activating the application of parameters when installing a new module
in an existing system configuration (new Module was installed):

1. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Module

2. Put the DIL-switch S 3.7 to “ON” position
3. Switch ON the DCM Module
4. The LED "SF2" flashes approx. 2 seconds after being activated
5. Give 3 times a short 24V signal on the terminal 17 of the Module.
This needs to be done within 10 seconds after switching ON the DCM Card.
=>The LED ”SF2” on DCM shines during parameter transfer.
Wait till the LED “SF2” will begin to flash regularly.
=>The parameter transfer may take a few moments! In the case of failure,
the alarm relay is deactivated, and the error LED “F105” lights up.
6. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Card.
7. Put the DIL-switch S 3.7 to “OFF” position
8. Switch ON the DCM Card
YOUR PROPULSION EXPERTS 7
DCM Speed, calibration of the lever detent position

The lever detent position, which varies slightly for Copilots, can be stored
via the DIL switch S3.6.
The system must be operational.

1. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Module

2. Put the DIL-switch S 3.6 to “ON” position
3. Switch ON the DCM Module
4. The LED “F102" flashes for indicating the mode
RPM adjustment via FFU is not available in this mode;
the alarm relay is deactivated!
5. Each lever must be activated once
e.g. by way of a control desk change, in order to store the lever detent positions.
The position in which the lever is during activation is then stored as detent position
on EEPROM.
6. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Card.
7. Put the DIL-switch S 3.6 to “OFF” position
8. Switch ON the DCM Card

Make sure the encoder stay in this position till parameterisation was done.
1. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Card
2. Set CAN Jumper 8
3. Switch ON the DCM Card
4. Give 3 times a short 24V signal on the terminal 12c (pick-up input) of the Card.
This needs to be done within 10 seconds after switching ON the DCM Card.
=>The LED ”controller” on DCM shines during parameterisation.
Wait till the LED will turn OFF.
=>The green LED ”in service” will stay ON during the parameterisation.
=>The parameterisation may take a few moments!
6. Switch OFF the power supply of the DCM Card.
7. Remove CAN Jumper 8
8. Switch ON the DCM Card

YOUR PROPULSION EXPERTS 16

Applying parameters to EEPROM on WAGO

The EEPROM of the WAGO stores parameters, which can be

individually adjusted for every ship.
That means that the WAGO PLC can be easily replaced in case of failure.
Activating the application of parameters when installing a new PLC
in an existing system configuration (new PLC was installed):

1. Switch OFF and then ON the power supply of the WAGO PLC
2. Give 3 times a short 24V signal on the digital input 1.7 (1A1.4 DI7, Terminal No. 8)
of the WAGO PLC.
This needs to be done within a period of 25 seconds after switching ON the
controller. The countdown begins after initial activation, and not after the
RUN LED has stopped flashing!
=>Applying all parameters takes however 3 minutes at least!
6. In order to activate all functions it is necessary to switch the controller OFF
and then ON again.
