Assignment 1

Jun Rey G Tingcang

1. Why is knowledge in physiology important in aquaculture and fisheries?

Such physiological research can provide a wealth of information that can help with fish conservation and
management. These include how fish react to and tolerate a variety of environmental situations, as well
as how fish bodies and internal systems evolve over time (including smoltification and reproduction).

2. Why do you need to learn cell physiology? Because it is the study of cell function and processes, and
it helps to understand their functions and their role in maintaining the Homeostasis. Learning them
together aids in building a good knowledge and command over them.

3. According to the cell theory, a single cell can give rise to a new individual. If a newly

fertilized egg (single cell) of a milkfish will be enucleated (nucleus is removed) and

replaced by a nucleus from grouper fish. Will the fertilized egg develop into milkfish?

Explain your answer.

No, it will not develop into milkfish because e nucleus is the heart of the egg cell it contains most of
the genetic material in the form of chromosomes. And the genetic of the milkfish it will be
change into grouper fish.

4. What will happen if the nucleolus of the cell is defective?

If the nucleus didn't exist, the cell wouldn't have direction and the nucleolus, which is inside the
nucleus, wouldn't be able to produce ribosomes.
