How the characteristics (language, layout, image) of the song influence us as a

reader.

The extraordinary and meaningful title

 1-800-273-8255 (number of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline)

 When I first met with this song, I was a bit confused by just looking at the title of the
song. My first impression of the song was how would is the content of the song? Is it
a number related to somebody’s love story or any network code? I never think that
the long number is a national phone call and Logic did not even mention this number
in the lyrics, that is why I have the wrong concept that maybe this number is just a
normal code that symbolize singer’s idea or any network code.
 After I searched it from internet, I found the meaningful hidden meaning of the title. It
is actually the number of National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. When I found the truth,
I froze for at least 5 seconds and at the moment I really admired his effort on helping
others people in the society especially those who wants to end up their lives by
committing suicide. The main message he would like to deliver is so clear and direct.
I can now understand the purpose of why Logic put this number as a tittle. It is
because he wants everyone who loves him and listens to song remember and save
this number in their memory forever, so that when they have no one to talk to or want
to end up their lives can quickly get help from the association. He wants to build
suicide awareness to everyone in the world.

The eye-catching and direct lyrics

 When I first listened to the song, the intro is so beautiful and dramatic but there was a
sudden turning point when Logic starts sings “it feels like my life ain’t mine”.
Suddenly the surrounding turns dim and full of sorrow.
 As Logic starts singing the first chorus, he says, “I don’t want to be alive. I just want
to die today.” I was shocked at this statement and it has grabbed my attention to
continue listening, so that I can explore more hidden meaning. Repetition of the
chorus give meaning a life to the song to show the listener that life gets hard and it
may be hard for a while but eventually things do get better.  The raw, pure emotional
will leave the listeners jaw dropped and surely feeling empathic.
 After I finished listening to this song, I realizes that the whole song is about Logic is
talking to someone on the phone, sounding clearly depressed, as the other person
tries to calm him down. The third chorus is the person saying “I finally want to be
alive. I don’t want to die today.” This is again from the point of view of the caller
saying how he feels now that he has called the lifeline and knows that people care
about him and that he is not alone.
The storyline of MV
 The mv is about the story focuses on a gay black teen who’s coming to grips with
his sexuality. He contemplates killing himself — even pointing a gun at his head
in one of the video’s darkest moments but and it’s a beautiful ending best left
unspoiled.
 By watching the official mv, I can feel his sincerity as he is using the fact that he is
well known to spread awareness of an important topic Nowadays, a lot of people
don’t want to talk about this topic and he broke through all the stereotype and
judgement to come out with this song by using very direct and easy lyrics to show the
example of conversation of a hopeless person.
